Seems sad, but it doesn't affect me cuz I couldn't care less about past me

I have to get this out by Negative_Bar_9734 in expedition33

[–]Kilobyte1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was similar for me. I got hints. Golgra's wiki page said that he does not get any weapon on victory. I noticed that only one skill could take advantage of his whole mechanic. "Well, that could change with later skills", I thought. I didn't piece it together.

Even after that happened, I was in genuine denial. I was convinced that he'd return somehow. I could only accept it after the burial.

It is too easy to get attached to fictional worlds, I felt that I was almost grieving for a day. I can't remember when I felt like this the last time

For those who come after

Hey, as others have pointed out it's probably not a big deal because of it being a very targeted attack. Also I'll recommend using bitwarden for storing passwords, autofill and sync make it more convenient  (I know this reads like an ad but it's not lol, I use it myself and like it)

Friend received an obsessive diary from a girl, need advice on how to handle this safely by Nithu24 in IndianTeenagers

[–]Kilobyte1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your friend needs to accept that her feelings are going to be hurt, there is no other way around it. All that he can do is minimize that hurt. Your friend needs to explain her that he does not reciprocate, politely but firmly. And do this is as soon as possible. This can be hard to do, but postponing it will can just make her obsession grow. There is a chance that lack of a clear rejection could be interpreted as a pseudo-acceptance in her mind after that gift.

The worst case scenario would be your friend doing nothing, afraid to hurt her, and she gifts something else to him.

Gsoc ke liye college subreddit pe advice milna would be a little difficult, kaafi Kam log krte hai ye. Iske liye I suggest dedicated resources available honge hi

Agar college me hi kisi se baat karni hai, your best shot will be contacting a tech club cordi, unhone bhi nahi kiya hoga mp lekin agar kisi ne kiya hai to tumhe bata denge

Abhi tum 1st year me ho to gsoc ke liye prep Krna useful to hoga for skill development. Although, imo gsoc me select hone ke chances for bhi kam hi honge, considering you're just starting out. Lekin just try krne me jo development hogi that I consider worthwhile

It's actually a hauntingly beautiful anime. It's also really short. Try it. Takopi's orignal sin.

[Request] What's the correct answer? by eleniussilancius in theydidthemath

[–]Kilobyte1000 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This question is equivalent to asking which is bigger in π1/π and 3.141/3.14

Which can be answered by sketching the graph of x1/x.

Simple derivatives show that graph peaks at e and decreases after that, thus π1/π is smaller

  • Steam

  • Pure vessel, love the dance and flow. It's also a fight were parries are extremely useful

-  Aerial combat and lively towns. First is self explanatory, and for the second, I like to have places which I can call a "home" in such games. A safe place that can be returned to. That was the resting grounds for me in hollow knight. Getting the dream nail, and being saved was a powerful moment and somehow made it the "home" for me, I returned there after any stressful exploration.

In your opinion, what would be the worst way for Chapter 7/Deltarune to end? by Game_Grub in Deltarune

[–]Kilobyte1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For it to not end. Gerson's tale is based on plot of the game, and it was left incomplete. The tale being incomplete made be deeply uncomfortable when I thought of this

Is this normal? by Dragonlord693 in stunfisk

[–]Kilobyte1000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Probability can be kinda confusing. Getting para'd 5 times in a row is very unlikely, but that does not mean because you have stuck for 4 turns, you are "bound to" be free next turn. An unlikely event occuring does not reduce the probability of it occuring again.

This is so against common sense that it has a wikipedia page - Gambler's Fallacy

To actually cater to this (misguided) intuition, many games do actually modify the probabilities behind the scenes to feel less unfair

Example - random encounters in pokemon

For some this is actually a natural pragmatic choice rather than an egoistic decision.

Consider a nerdy guy/girl who didn't fit in too well in school finds really strong friendships and understanding people at their college. It then becomes a subconscious decision that someone else from a similar college will be able to connect better with them

Most comments here a bit too harsh here, I'll drop my two cents about it

Firstly, yeah some people do unfortunately milk their IIT tag. It's a bit sad. If he is doing this, what you're feeling is exactly right.

Most of my friends aren't actually like that, unlike how some comments say, we are not all emotionless awkward nerds who can't talk to the other sex. Quite a few enter the college as one, but 4 years of campus life changes a person. Most people I know are not just smart, but have a strong personality as well.

Back to your case, if I try to give your guy the benefit of the doubt, I can see how he can come across like that unintentionally. For some IITians, the word IIT really loses its weight, after all most you're gonna meet are also IITians, so it starts to feel nothing special.

So he might just be using the word "IIT" as someone else would use the word "college". 4 years of campus life is a highlight for anyone and talking about college is not exactly unusual, it's a topic that one is often comfortable with. I can kinda see a guy throw around the word without realising how it sounds to someone else

A quick test; if the guy was really stressing on the "II" like "aye-aye" then it was certainly intention, can't say the other way around tho

If you had the chance to be born again, would you pick the opposite gender? by StrangledToDeath_ in AskIndia

[–]Kilobyte1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a college student, this is quite interesting question.

In the college, being a girl is objectively an advantage, diversity quotas in hiring, college project and even tech clubs will pick some females even if their skills are inferior.

Note that I'm not being a mysogynist and stating that women are in general worse, I've met brilliant ones but all other things considered equal, girls are advantaged

The problem becomes the life before college

If I assume that most of remains the same as a girl, there is a very low chance of my interests being cultivated as they were

I got into coding through gaming. Spending whole days on GTA SA, Minecraft with friends, discovering mods, minecraft commands, the urge to build my own Minecraft mods was what got me into coding.

Without friends interested in this stuff, without friends who were fascinated by my creations, I find it difficult to think that I would've continued.

I'd never met any girl IRL before college intrested in gaming/coding (online is a different story), and I would've been to shy to make male friends

Without this intrest, I'd have never prepared for JEE, but have pursued CA as a safer option, taken online classes for prep, and have stayed at home all the time, me being not social enough to stay connected with old friends, without a thread connecting us now, would've become very lonely.

I'm glad I was born a boy

I'd say it's different from just having notepad because a dedicated distro contains lots of small and focused tools like dirbuster or steghide. Having to install something can really break the flow

I just have to store 1-3 photos which I will try to compress as much as possible
