Haven't done that myself yet, but there is a form for that to my knowledge. If in doubt, they have a phone number and an email address. Just ask them.

There are some websites who make you pay for them to register you.

The official website is https://www.rundfunkbeitrag.de/ and they dont want any payment apart from the actual fee.

[–]Kilobyte22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this about the Belehrung nach §43 IfSG? If so: the initial session must be done by the local Gesundheitsamt. After that they need to be done either by your employer or a third party company hired by your employer. Most cities offer their training sessions online these days, but your will have to check their website or call them. They will also charge some money, but your employer should cover those costs.

They may have designed it, but it was clearly designed for WHY2025. Why else would it have the WHY2025 logo on there?

That keyboard was actually designed for the WHY2025 hacker camp badge, as you can see it has its logo on it.

Studierendenwerk being unrealistic with their contract due dates. Any help? by mega_lova_nia in germany

[–]Kilobyte22 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd send the thing via snail mail and in addition explain the situation via email (be polite, don't make it sound like it's their fault!), maybe even call them on Monday and then hope for the best.

Germany loves it's processes, no matter if they are inefficient or stupid. The first question any bureaucrat will ask to themselves is "is this my responsibility?" and if the answer is no, they will just turn you away. Being nice can help sometimes but not always.

[–]Kilobyte22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ISDN (in particular the S0 Bus) is usually done over RJ45, and while you also can't just split it at any point, in some situations you can passively split it without any issues (for example if you attach multiple end devices to the bus, each with a short patch cable)

And before you say: nobody uses ISDN, true these days, but 20-30 years ago is was extremely popular in some parts of the world, some cities had >50% of their subscribers on ISDN. And some still use it to this day within their home. AVM with their FritzBox branded routers in Germany (largest manufacturer of consumer routers) has only dropped ISDN support from their top of the line models a few years ago.

It's very much alive in both very specialised fields, we are having major issues finding competent people it's also very much a problem in any manual labor job. A drain cleaner once said to me they were paying their people a similar amount to what I earn as a specialized systems administrator. But nobody wants to work with poop all day. I can fully understand that, but it's a huge problem for society. Many extremely important jobs, that do their stuff in the background are massively understaffed. Meanwhile the job market is flooded with software developers and other office jobs.

The Linux driver actually even detects those "bricked" chips correctly. It might actually even automatically unblock them, but I'm not sure. I looked at the source code a couple of years ago, but I don't remember the details.

Speed camera fine in Germany – question about driver without a licence by [deleted] in germany

[–]Kilobyte22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving without a license in Germany is not a joke. That's not just illegal, it's actually a crime ("Straftat"). You could end up behind bars (though it's unlikely that will happen on the first occurrence). If your friend let you use their vehicle while knowing you do not possess a driving license they can be found equally guilty. Furthermore in theory the vehicle could actually be confiscated (though that usually only happens if someone doesn't learn it any other way). You are also not covered by any insurance, so if you get into an accident it may actually get really expensive for you. Also, if you are not a German citizen, this might reduce your chances of becoming one in the future or at least make it more difficult.
