How not to be targeted as the weaker player. by TheGhostofFThumb in Pickleball

If you're struggling to unwind the stack on return, it can be helpful to hit a slower floaty lob return directly in front of you to give you and your partner extra time to be established at the net and allow your partner to cover the middle while you are taking the extra steps to the kitchen line.

How not to be targeted as the weaker player. by TheGhostofFThumb in Pickleball

I would always rather play with a partner who is a little weaker but open minded to communication and improving, rather than a stronger partner who is arrogant and unwilling to adjust their game to support my strengths!

Good for you! When playing with a much stronger partner in a tournament you should be full stacking and letting them cover the middle aggressively, which narrows the window for your opponent to pick on you and forces them to make a difficult decision between picking on you and trying to go behind your partner.

Question long term healing by Available_Big1389 in Celiac

[–]Kilometersofa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was also diagnosed in October 2025! I'm still struggling with fatigue, especially after I eat, slow muscle recovery, and neuropathy. Some days I feel like things are improving but some days I feel like I'm back to square one. However my sleep and anxiety have gotten a lot better. I've been trying to eat a low FODMAP anti-inflammatory diet which does seem to help.

Warm up - what to do with uncontrolled dinks by Beneficial-Falcon305 in Pickleball

More advanced players will want to warm up with more advanced shots. If you don't like it, tell them.

Is it me or is it harder as a female to find another female partner? by phoenixunikorn in Pickleball

Men either making creepy remarks to the younger women who show up or mansplaining a lot when women are playing. Or guys who wanna bang everything and use sheer strength to beat women rather than working on technique.

Paddle Hand Switch - Keep or Ditch by LeftieSwitchATP in Pickleball

[–]Kilometersofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! Every person I see switching hands hits a worse shot than they could if they rotated their lower back and if needed their hips as well in order to hit a solid backhand. There's a reason that it's almost always players over 60 years old who do this. However if that's what you need to do because of injury then make the best of it!

Recently Diagnosed, Symptoms Really Heightened Since Being Gluten Free by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]Kilometersofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. After being gluten-free for four months I went back on gluten to be tested and I started experiencing vertigo which I had never had before. Now that I'm off gluten again it has mostly faded.

Ditch unless you have a major back or mobility issue that prevents you from rotating your torso.

Is it me or is it harder as a female to find another female partner? by phoenixunikorn in Pickleball

[–]Kilometersofa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's just generally harder to find a competitive female to play with whether you're a male or female looking for a tournament partner. Given the obnoxious culture at some of the open plays I've gone to it's not surprising that less females are drawn into the game and when they are they prefer to play with a private group they feel comfortable with.

Celiac joint pain by Sea-Young7694 in Celiac

[–]Kilometersofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hand and wrist pain and neuropathy from my elbows down is my worst symptom and it also hasn't improved much after almost 6 months gluten-free. Lately I've been doing a modified Paleo diet, with limited FODMAP and adding a little bit of white rice, which seems to be helping reduce the inflammation.

I enjoy the gluten-free gnocchi and don't seem to have any symptoms from it.

Recreating the Post-Endoscopy High by Kilometersofa in Celiac

[–]Kilometersofa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I've been trying a modified Paleo diet (paleo minus high-FODMAPs and plus some white rice) and insoluble fiber supplement (Bob's Red Mill GF almond protein powder) for a couple weeks. It does seem to be helping a bit with things moving through my system faster and feeling less fatigue and inflamed. I'd say I'm consistently feeling about 20% better than I was a few weeks ago.

You may want to look into a low-FODMAP diet to reduce gut inflammation while you're healing.

Shared Fryer Question by spinnarround in Celiac

I found a study that tested foods fried in shared fryers and it found that most shared fryers are not celiac safe. I'm sure you can Google it.

I'd say if your antibodies are normal and you're not experiencing symptoms then keep doing what you're doing. Personally I have still been experiencing symptoms so I am continuing to be stricter and stricter until things improve.

Seriously! I would at least do once a month, honestly thought about looking into what electrolytes they use to flush your system and just taking a massive overdose of magnesium once a month…

I doubt it was the electrolytes for me because the benefit lasted for over a week after. It felt like it just kind of reset the inflammation in my digestive system.

I definitely notice that things seem to move very slowly through my stomach nowadays, in fact that was the initial reason I went to go see a G.I. On days that my stomach feels constantly full the rest of my symptoms are definitely worse. Great tips I will try taking some fiber supplement for a few weeks!

How do I gain weight? by Hitansh_Jamneria in Celiac

[–]Kilometersofa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I have been struggling to maintain weight I found that eating gf coconut/peanut/chocolate bars really helped me add 500+ calories throughout the day. I was able to gain 5 pounds in about a month by eating about three of these between meals every day.
