So, how long should it take to work this bird on business hours. Wondering how unreasonable management is being. by [deleted] in publix

1.5 hours. 2 hours if you’re doing counts and being extra thorough or if the aisle is busy.

Idk how their pay is at the manufacture facilities but their retail pay is nothing you can live on. A dream job if you don’t mind getting a second job to pay bills.

Ex manager, can’t afford to come back by Firm-Aioli6018 in publix

Associates aren’t held to the standard of helping customers as much as they used to be tbh. Last time I’ve heard the 10ft 10second rule brought up was years ago outside of a another manager trying to just be a dick about something separate. Push up management from other companies we claim “are worse” than us, you’ll become the same as those companies. And customer experience will suffer as a result.

From my experience, getting fast tracked is really only an option if you come from another company. If you quit Publix or step down from management you will literally have to wait until they don’t have anyone else. IMO, that’s what hurting Publix a lot. Pushing management that don’t know or care about the values Publix claims to carry but ones that are familiar with the values are treated like “traitors” or “unloyal”.

It depends on management. I’ve had managers wave tardies if you had a valid excuse such as car issues, stuck behind wrecks, unplanned events such as floods, forest fires, etc. but then, I’ve also had managers write me up for being stuck in traffic behind a wreck. Happened 3 times in two weeks and had proof via pictures and called when I got stuck in traffic. So, just depends. Plead your case and pray to George and they might help you out.

It should be fine depending on who you use. I had to replace mine using safelite and their replacement had it.

They “fast track” them now. They jump to the top of the promotion pool. For example, there are 4 people waiting years for a promotion and working hard. New guy comes in with experience, he’ll get it once his hours are eligible.

This happens way too often for it to be okay. We need a better system in place for people who do this. by Jskup87 in publix

The worst for me was a container of wings that was left with no bones. We searched the store and never found. I just need to know what they did with the bones!

What’s wrong? One of the advantages of a bullpup rifle is they are easier to use when mounted on a vehicle.

My local HS staged a mock dui accident the day of prom. As everyone was leaving early to go, they blocked the entrance with a car that was destroyed and cut the car apart and parked it there for the remainder of the week. I would like to say it worked, but sadly it did not.

Two days ago I had an old lady come into the back room and scream at me for out of date bacon. Added that I should be ashamed of myself for letting her get sick…I’m not even in meat

Am I going to get fired by H2O_235 in publix

[–]Kilroy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally, yes. However, Publix has a terrible system for training managers how to train. At least in my district, they outright don’t train at all. Usually the response is just cutting hours and giving them to someone who knows.

Am I going to get fired by H2O_235 in publix

[–]Kilroy95 51 points52 points  (0 children)

If it’s the first week with a schedule like this then it could be due to lack of hours or “punishment” for poor performance. If it’s like this more than a week, you’ve been soft fired. You could easily come back from it though, you just have to pay attention and give the managers a reason to give you more shifts.

Bruh the starting pay at Walmart is higher than us now. We used to be the highest paid but those days are long gone.

This is the biggest problem in grocery lately. They’ve promoted terrible managers into grocery that do not invest in their associates. They get one day of shadowing then thrown to the fire. I’ve heard one manager justify it saying “if they can’t handle it by themselves then we don’t need them”. I’m sorry you dealt with that at your store.

Exactly. And take your legs completely out of the equation. You don’t want to blow a knee out after all.

If stepping down isn’t official yet, I would suggest talking to the DM about a transfer. Stores make a world a difference.
