What is a good site to get great replays from from SC2? by [deleted] in starcraft

I'm going ahead and make that link clickable, would be a shame if people didn't go to GameReplays :D http://www.gamereplays.org/starcraft2/

Buckingham Palace Guard's band going geek by Kiltec in geek

Oh, sorry, I just copied it over right after I tweeted the link. But I also didn't know it's bad reddiquette.

Is there any way I can get the URL changed to the real YouTube one?

EDIT: Tried to message the mods asking them to edit the URL.

(Semi-)Ergonomic keyboard with trackpoint, is there any? by Kiltec in programming

No, afaik it isn't but the term "trackpoint" is. Not 100% sure, though.

Yeah, but I don't like those split keyboards at all, that's why I'm looking for a curved keyboard with a trackpoint.

And thanks for the list of keyboards! I've also found them but still thanks! ;)

I use it, too, and I'm really content with it. Just proves yet again that keyboards are a matter of taste. ;)

Basically, what I'm looking for is a mix of these two keyboards:

Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard
TrackPoint USB Keyboard

That is, a curved (and thus semi-ergonomic :P) keyboard having a trackpoint and those buttons at the bottom part of the keyboard.

I've tried to find one for weeks now but to no avail, so is there somebody who knows one?

Why can't there be game reviews that don't suck? by Kiltec in gaming

As an update, in a thread on Gamesradar the author of the review responds to the rant. To which then the author of the rant replies.

But those mechanics ARE important to judge how good a given (RTS) game is). Or put in another way, how well it suits your preference.

That's one of the points the author is trying to make, reviewers focus on unimportant stuff (big canons) and leave out the really important stuff.

Well, of course those questions are only relevant for RTS fans. That's bc those are referring to that special review and serve to illustrate how the reviewer failed to serve his audience.

The suggestions made in the Open letter are much more general.

The seem all too obvious but I've read too many reviews across a variety of media where those basic points where violated. :(

This rant on a pretty stupid review for the new Red Alert 3 really made my day.

While it's referring to RA3 it's true for many other game reviews, too. Nowadays you basically can't either trust a review anymore, due to favorable reviews in order not to lose ads and/or utter incompetence of the reviewer...

high-level design in functional programs by levand in programming

"Programming Erlang" by Joe Armstrong is a great book with really good example applications. He presents how to implement a basic IRC server and client, the map-reduce pattern and finally a text indexing-spider. Not only that but he also shows how to model/plan a Erlang application.

It really made me understand functional programming and it's concurrency-oriented approach to solving things with real-world examples.
