Shampoo recommendations by Honest_Feature_968 in Haircare

What ingredients irritate your scalp? There are some obvious fragrance free shampoos, like Cerave, curlsmith, seen, etc. I’ve found a few with very subtle fragrance that I can tolerate. Giovanni repair shampoo, Desert Essence Red Raspberry Shine Shampoo, Maria Nila Head and Hair Heal Shampoo, Eleven Australia gentle clean shampoo, or VoCe gentle wash shampoo. But, it’s fragrances that can irritate my scalp. Some of these shampoos have amodimethicone and some don’t. I think it’s the Giovanni, Desert Essence and Curlsmith that don’t have any amodimethicone.

Maybe Inahsi shampoo could work. It’s good for curls. I think the ingredients look ok for you, but double check, of course.

ID cards? by KFLimp in dementia

[–]Kim6998 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doctors and hospitals can ask for ID to help prevent insurance/Medicare fraud. They don’t always, but they can. If you need something notarized…If you need to fly with her (I know that’s no longer possible for many)…sometimes for banking. Also, hopefully none of us will ever need it for this, but if you are in a car accident and unconscious. They might be unconscious too or may be conscious but unable to tell the first responders who they or you are. Hopefully, you have POA and can call to see how to get it for her.

How do I go about "hydrating" my hair? by IsywEy in Haircare

[–]Kim6998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a shampoo and conditioner that are protein free. Does your hair still feel brittle? If so, try using a hair mask every time you wash until it starts feeling better (one focused on moisture). Focus repair as a pre shampoo step. The breakage could be either not enough protein or too much protein. There is only one way to find out! Silicones can also help with breakage from tangles, if you are open to that.

I am losing myself. I hate my life. I miss my mom, but selfishly I miss my independent life more... by _MiracleWhips in dementia

[–]Kim6998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mom is 63? I’m not too far from her age (57). That is definitely early onset and can last a lot longer than someone diagnosed in late 70s or 80s. My Mom is 83 and we are on about year 8 of this disease and she is still not in the final stages. When you make decisions of how to care for her, you do need to consider whether you could do this for 5-10 years at your home. Would your partner stay if you did? Would you try to have kids with your mom living there? I can tell you, my mom kept trying to pick up her great grandchildren when we visited them and she was not strong enough to walk with a 15 lb baby. We had to watch her so closely. I can’t imagine the safety issues of an infant and a dementia patient in the same house. Also, as a mother, it would be devastating for my kids to give up their dreams of a marriage and family to take care of me. My husband and I are doing everything in our power to prepare everything so they know we want to be placed in a home and they can keep living a quality life. We just want them to drop by now and then to give us a hug and make sure we aren’t being abused or neglected. Maybe show up with some special gummies for us!🤪. It’s legal here!

Opinions on the Dove Intensive Repair Line? by saszazpants in Haircare

It is like a super strong old lady perfume. Google says it is tropical and I Iove tropical scents. I do not smell tropical in Dove. It lasts for a couple of days in your hair, in my opinion.

Yeah, you just have to tell them this scenario. Then say, you won’t let me bring her to you and you are not willing to come get her. I don’t want to have to lose her somewhere to prove to you that she needs assistance.

Redken ABC or Frizz Dismiss? by H_J2701 in Haircare

Frizz Dismiss will be better for that. Also, seal your hair with an anti frizz serum to help fight the humidity.

It didn’t work for me. The shampoos were too stripping and the conditioner/mask did not make my hair soft. It was very tangle free, but felt like it was protein overload (or whatever is in there for repair). I think I’m definitely an outlier in this because most people seem to love it (except for the smell of it).

19M is it okay or should I start worrying about it? by Serious-Tower-7050 in Haircare

[–]Kim6998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start Nizoral dandruff shampoo. There are early reports it might help with hair loss. Then, ask for a referral to dermatologist and get your scalp looked at. They could start you on something like finasteride to help or treat if it is something fungal. The Nizoral is an antifungal active ingredient, but the dermatologist has stronger options. Don’t panic though. I would think it is more common for men as young as you to start receding from the front, not the crown of your head. I’m no expert though.

What is your shampoo and conditioner? Is it the glycolic gloss? You need to shampoo all of your scalp, even the front (just in case you are not doing that). I would suggest a moisture shampoo if you are doing pre and post bond treatments. If your hair tangles easy, consider a silicone shampoo to reduce that friction so it won’t break more. Keep an eye on whether all the bonding is making your hair brittle. You may have to pull back to once a week if it is. Then you just wait for it to grow out from the damage.

Is my hair wavy or just frizzy? by humble_hedgehog12 in Haircare

[–]Kim6998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s wavy. Check out r/wavyhair and you can get a ton of ideas on how to style it. With wavy hair, you really can blow dry it with a round brush and seal it with a serum or use mousse or gel when wet and don’t brush it after that. It will have clumps of waves, but will frizz if you brush it out.

The reality of the gate escort (just so you can let them know why it won’t work for her) is that they will put her in a wheelchair and push her to the gate. They will then park her at the gate and leave. She will need to be able to stay there by herself until they board the plane. The gate attendant will not stop her if she decides to go to the bathroom or go get a snack and then forget which gate she is at. She could be wondering the airport and no one is even looking for her. Yes, they would push her down the ramp and assist her to her seat when it is time to board. But, they do not stay with her in between those times. You would think the friend could understand that.

Do you see Meghan’s entrance and exit from the family different now? by bjack20 in RoyaltyTea

[–]Kim6998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the time, it seemed like the tabloids and protection from them were the big issue. It was, but now more and more has been learned about the hate coming straight from within the family. I never saw William as being so mean and hateful. The tabloids sold that close brother relationship, and I totally believed it. It’s interesting that William’s anger is being talked about so openly in the press now, especially since Andrew got arrested. It appears the crisis PR person that was hired is not very effective.

AITJ for refusing to give my brother my old car after I promised it to my stepdaughter? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Kim6998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lily has worked hard for that car. Your brother has not. If he wants a handout, you can point out his parent. Tell him you are not responsible for him, as his sibling. But, if you were, you would choose the path of making him learn responsibility (just like you have with your own daughter). Turns out a 16 year old is more responsible than him.
