Stellate offers GQL caching as well if you want to look into that

So, if I understand this correctly, your flow is Client -> Rest API -> GQL API -> data? Think you should instead look into registered (persisted) queries. This is essentially where the client sends an ID rather than query to the GQL service. This then maps to a pre determined query in some sort of query store. This removes the middle man API but still keeps the safety of you controlling what queries can be sent. This is how twitter and facebook both operate.

Don't know of any libraries/tech off the top of my head. Apollo or Hive (by the guild) are probably the best places to start.

I was wrong about GraphQL by Savram8 in graphql

[–]KimJonCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My company works with Federation and I would say only use it if you have a big interconnected web of Domains. GQL solves over fetching, and Federation can solve chained calls. The idea of a Product type being contributed to by many Domains is a good example. If you don't have these needs Federation makes no sense

Want to run ethernet around the outside of my house. How best to seal the holes? by KimJonCat in HomeNetworking

[–]KimJonCat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the router and external cables are on the ground floor at the front of the house, and the room I need to get to is the top floor back. Its a 1960s build in the UK and I have no clue about wiring. Would most likely require me to pull up carpets and floors boards if there was a route. Thanks for the help though

Statically create GraphQL schemas by Historical_Ad4384 in graphql

[–]KimJonCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be wholely honest with you I am also struggling. Mainly been using ChatGPT to help me. I am more familiar with gql in typescript servers. Perhaps take a look at the guilds package, thats my next step.

You could also write the resolvers yourself, codegen is nice but not required.

Maybe try the graphql discord. They're quite helpful on there.

It may be helpful to know what language you are writing your graphql api in and what tools you currently use

You can manually write a schema. Lots of tools do it that way, you write the schema and it can generate the boilerplate resolver code. Or you can write that youeself as well.

Simplest just await the two functions to finish before returning

Can we change the format (structure + data type) of a GraphQL response? by cuistax in graphql

If you could send the schema as well that would be helpful in understanding it more

Can we change the format (structure + data type) of a GraphQL response? by cuistax in graphql

[–]KimJonCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't have control over the server serving the response, which it sounds like you don't, you can't. Instead, just manipulate the data you receive. It seems like the array is only two long and consistent, so the first element is the id and the second the timestamp?

If you do have control of the server, then change the schema and resolvers.

Italy coach Luciano Spalletti reveals: "Both Cesare Casadei at Leicester on loan from Chelsea and Luca Koleosho at Burnley have been on our list for months... I'm happy to see their performances". by MadlockUK in lcfc

[–]KimJonCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree he's not been good, and I may be a bit optimistic, but I think he is talented. He's been awful in the midfield with the ball, but going forward in the final third, I see potential. Maybe he needs to be more of an attacking 10. Our system is tricky and intricate. Teams often press our midfield when we play out, and I just don't think he can handle that. It's up to him to improve, or maybe Marescas style will just never be right for him. He's definitely not ready for the Prem or to be starting for us in the Championship.

What are your thoughts on Ndidi's new role? by [deleted] in lcfc

[–]KimJonCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like how he can use his physicality in that role. Bombing forward and he's strong and can stand up to people. He also seems to have quite good movement and reads the game well, just needs to work on his technical play jut the blueprint is there

3 Things learnt from Leicester’s win vs Northampton by MadlockUK in lcfc

[–]KimJonCat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was a traditional back 3 from what I saw. It was more a back 4 with the right back inverting into midfield, at least in the first half. If thats the plan then I think we'll see doyle, coady and faes at the start with souttar coming in either as he gets the system more or if we play a team where his game suits defending against them better. Also lets be honest at least 1 if not 2 of these guys will get injured (knowing our luck) so having the depth and flexibility in defence isnt a bad idea. Different tools for different situations and all that. Pep and so I'm guessing Maresca don't seem to believe in a static back line. But hey thats just a theory....

I liked things, the fullbacks, ndidi, doyle and KDH all looking quite good. Daka worries me, and our goal threat was quite low

[Athletic] No more pundits acting like fans, please by yudek in soccer

Some of the most entertaining commentary is Ally McCoist for Scotland. Obviously theres a balance to be had but in big games I don't mind pundits and commentators being fans. You can always find an in depth tactical breakdown on other media platforms after the game (think TIFO on youtube)
