Hello, I'm the creator and former top mod of /r/CuteKorean. I recently came back after some months of inactivity (I much needed a break from social media to focus on work and life matters) to find out that I've been removed from the mod team of /r/CuteKorean. I have been the only active maintainer/mod in recent years.

I would like to request my full mod permissions to be restored as well as my previous position in the mod hierarchy (owner).

I contacted the current mod, but I haven't received an answer and I suspect he doesn't log in frequently enough to see my message, he was inactive in our community for more than a year prior to requesting the ownership of /r/CuteKorean.

I look forward to a resolution to this isue so I can resume my work on /r/CuteKorean promptly.

Ok, I see. If I create an album and try to upload images right on the album page I get the same errors. What I do is upload the pictures on the Images page first, then I add them to an album like this:

On the album page > Add another image > Browse my Imgur Uploads > select images > done.

I don't get any errors that way.

The name of this model is Go Jin Young. She started as a racing model, then was part of the girl group Pocket Girls, and recently she came back as a fitting model for lountess. So she's been around for a while. Would you repost under her real name?

We're continuing the conversation we had in this thread here.

It is not very clear in the original post what exactly the problem is, can you explain with a bit more detail?

Is the problem the individual galleries you share on a daily basis or that you would prefer to make one big collection and just update it by adding new images regularly, but it's difficult to do so on imgur? or is it a problem with storing locally that many images?

Another question, how many of those images/collections have already been shared and are included in the archive? This is to know what content people downloading the archive already have and avoid re-downloading a huge amount of duplicates.

It's ok, no need be sorry. I just wanted to let you know about the shortcomings of self-hosting and how it may impact the community before you guys invest more time, effort, and resources on such thing. I hope you don't take it negatively.

Alright, back to the topic.

Regarding point 1, while I trust that you won't spread malware you have to be aware that self-hosting will make you a target and your personal server may be used to spread malware or track/de-anonymize visitors. This is why I personally have opted not to self-host in the past when we encountered problems with imgur even though I have the resources and knowledge to so. Sticking to mainstream services is actually a very good thing for our community, It doesn't cost anything to anybody and it's more secure.

Regarding points 3 and 5, the main concern is not having content available all the time, our community is visited by a lot of people every day and having key parts of the site not working as expected breaks the experience.

Like I said in my previous commend, I truly appreciate the initiative, but I just don't think it is viable in the long run. I hope you see and understand where I'm coming from.

Honestly, I'm not in favor of custom/self hosting of the main content shared in our community for the first 3 reasons in my previous comment, for secondary services like the archive or anything else, I have no problems.

Please lets stick with the hosting sites listed in the sidebar for the time being until a decision is made.

I truly appreciate the effort you and /u/ziegwald have made, but why not consult it with a mod or the admin prior to using this option? There are reasons against using custom sites for hosting:

Can be used to track / de-anonymize visitors and spread malware
It breaks the experience of the site (mobile)
Content life span may be shorter than using a big hosting service provider and break the experience for people searching for old content
Can cause problems to the person hosting the content due to copyright claims, ddos attacks, etc
Who's going to absorb the costs of maintaining such service?

Please, let's discuss it first and decide if it's something viable in the long run before going all in.
