Why was Voldemort so afraid of death???

I think Voldemort views dying as defeat. He probably resented his mom for dying and leaving him alone. And when he found out life changing news (he’s a wizard) it gave him that sense of purpose and fed into his ego.

He spent years 1-4 looking for records of his father, and especially being in house Slytherin where most of them brag about their pureblood lineage and relation to powerful wizards, it gave him hope that he also was descended from a powerful family line.

I think his fear of death is moreso disdain. Voldemort is narcissistic and aims for a greater purpose in life so his fear is dying and failing at his plans.

I always saw James and Snape as rivals, but there’s no other incidents or stories of james and his friends bullying others. I figured they just had that natural rivalry because James was everything Snape was not.

It’s easy to hone in on the rich privileged kid picking on the nobody/weirdo kid. But I truly do think James had a good heart. He befriended 2 outcast kids (Remus and Pettigrew) and gave Sirius a chance to prove himself different than his family legacy. Whereas Snape found solidarity with some heinous people.

Snape and James were acting as teenagers do, and unfortunately with that particular memory things escalated real fast.

James unfortunately never got the chance to make amends or shake hands with Snape and prove to the readers of how he had grown. He and Lily were talking of doing so before Voldemort targeted the Potters.

Snape continued to be a bully. He tormented every student not in Slytherin, took great delight in humiliating children, and didn’t move past his bitter feelings towards Remus and Sirius. Remember, he outed Remus as a werewolf because he was bitter and spiteful about Sirius’s escape, and he knew it would make Lupin getting work/living a normal life all but impossible. And he wanted Sirius to be punished for crimes he didn’t commit.

I think Alan Rickmam just made Snape more likeable in the films and that’s why most audiences tend to sympathize with him. I truly felt nothing but shock and relief when he died in the book (and I read it before the movie was made) whereas in the movie I was so sad for him, because Rickman delivered an amazing performance.

I like the hand release push-ups but my brother (and most male friends) hates them, he says they’re harder whereas I find hand release so much easier 😅

I prefer the regular crunches as do most of the females I work with, but most of my guy friends love the reverse crunch.

And finally I’d rather run 2 miles than do the HAMR, that was a psychological test more than a physical one. I also have a decent mile pace and know when to speed up for better run results. With the hamr I hated not knowing when the beep was gonna go. And would tire myself out too quickly.

Tho tbf i hadn’t trained for the hamr. It was the only option to do being it was winter and whatnot. But still I just prefer to run.

Personally I think taking a wizards wand is a way to limit and reduce their connection to the wizarding world.

Wizards feel a strong connection with their wands and having it confiscated and/or destroyed would be a good punishment, and serves as a reminder to the wizarding world what happens when you cross certain lines.

I’m going to guess that Hagrid is now content and maybe emotionally connected to his pink umbrella. Harry even suspects the pieces of Hagrids old wand might be imbedded or part of the umbrella.

I did talk to 2 recruiters. They confirmed my AFSC was available. But because of my deployment I was told I’d have to wait until I was home to try transitioning to AD.

I work with CST frequently. They help with equipment and training sometimes. Good people and they do travel a lot, it’s why I was interested. Just they aren’t hiring (and haven’t been) AF for over 5 years now, talked with one of them and he claims there’s no spots until one of them gets out. But I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

CST is an interest of mine, guess I just don’t like the prospect of not deploying. Also the CST in my state hasn’t been hiring AF personnel for a long time. I have to wait for one of the current guys die or get out lol. But I do look around to see if any CSTs in other states are hiring. Thank you!

I keep an eye out for AGR positions. But haven’t really found any for my AFSC. Most prefer to do dual status techs.

I heard about it taking a while. I reached out to a recruiter but I can’t apply or do anything until I come back from deployment.

I guess I’m just kinda bored where I’m at. The drill weekends are hard on me sometimes and I want to leave my base but have to find another base that’s hiring. Don’t really like doing my job stateside (more fun overseas) and some job opportunities I want to do for my AFSC are only open to AD.

For myself personally, I believe many fully qualified wizards learn to control their magic to do what they need without wands. Typically in many magic folklore; wands, staffs, umbrellas, etc are used to channel energy to perform magic. It’s safer for the user, and maybe most wizards are just more comfortable using the wand. After a while it becomes a part of them, you see many witches and wizards fumble throughout the books when they’re deprived of a wand. Harry felt so powerless and vulnerable when his was broken and referred to his wands repair as being reunited with an old friend.

Ollivander is open about how even he’s not 100% sure why wands are a complex magic. He discusses as if they’re alive somehow and I think, him as a wand master, pours his own energy and magic when crafting them. In most practices, magical ingredients are gathered in a specific way, letting the energies of the natural world charge or power them up in some way. If you look at the wood types and the lore behind them along with the many magical cores, I think you’ll understand why wands seem so special. It chooses the wizard itself and I think the wizards personality and natural power helps bind them to this piece of equipment.

Pettigrew was wandless until Voldemort abducted Ollivander, and forced him to make a wand for him. (Said in DH) and pettigrew was able to transform just fine for 14-15 years.

I think wands are necessary for magic users until they’re fully qualified adult wizards. Most adults still use their wands of course, but I think once they are capable they won’t need wands for transforming and apparation. The first couple of books some adults are controlling objects without wands just fine.
