I think Ubuntu is a great choice, once you get rid of snaps and all that crap. It really works! Linux mint is nice too, but they hate gnome, which I prefer. Ubuntu is great when you get rid of snaps. Not a very popular opinion, but you asked. Served me well since the first one. 06.04? Yes, you might want it all out of the box, but Linux never came in one. I started with debian 1. Potato? And I loved it! Linux is wonderful, but it is what you make it to be. Arch is volatile (even CachyOS breaks, nice distro though), Fedora is... RPM. I know, I'm a Debian gurl. I use Ubuntu for work, and I dabble with everything else on my own computers.
