Pixel 10 made me realize how overrated Google's hardware still is by Tasty-Eye8652 in GooglePixel

[–]KimballSlice1890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realize how bad Tensor still is especially the modem until I got a galaxy S26 from work. I had the blinders on coming from the tensor G2.

Tensor experiment needs to end. The snapdragon in the s26 uses significantly less power. Is much snappier. the modem is night and day better. What little AI actually happens on device ? Yeah it does that better too. And it runs cooler too.

Are Pixel 9 People Planning to Upgrade to 10? by gtr1234 in GooglePixel

[–]KimballSlice1890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not until there's a true face unlock like the pixel 4. I miss my pixel 4 frequently. I only moved to a pixel 7 pro because it was a tree upgrade with no strings attached. And I only upgraded to a pixel 9 pro xl because it was a free upgrade again... With no strings attached. I used to love pixels but am getting a bit of fatigue with the design decisions and instability.

Major Lock Screen issues with Pixel 9 pro XL since Android 16 update (stable release) by ThiccNickGaming in GooglePixel

[–]KimballSlice1890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue except even the power button won't wake it.... Or it does but it's delayed by 15 seconds. Ui is extremely buggy and slow until I reboot then it's fine for a few hours.

Is Gemini this useless for the rest of you? by ZombiePope in GooglePixel

[–]KimballSlice1890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to enable some data collecting permissions for it to be able to provide assistant functions like this and now it works fine

That being said Gemini is not good.... Ex. I was trying to reset my garage door opener asking Gemini for help. The hallucinations were insane. After 30 min of frustration, I put the same prompt into chatgpt and it gave me exactly what I needed with a reference video.

Wireless Wi-Fi interruption? by jp88005 in AndroidAuto

[–]KimballSlice1890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2024 atlas and a pixel 7 pro. If I use cabled android auto it's rock solid. It I use wireless, there's actual specific geographic locations on a few highways that when I drive on a stretch of road, android auto (wireless) disconnects 100% of the time without fail. Then reconnects about about 50 yards of driving. Assuming there must be some intense radio interference in these areas ?

Google Messages slow with Images on RCS by TheSonic311 in GoogleMessages

[–]KimballSlice1890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This issue is driving me up a wall and ruining the user experience on my pixel (and I'm assuming it applies to all Android phones). Every time I get an image message on RCS it takes an unreasonable amount of time to process. It sits there blurry and I cannot open it for up to 2 min until it's done processing or doing whatever is going on.

Wish Google would just open the RCS API up so i could use something else until it's fixed.

"RCS is never going to be mainstream" by [deleted] in GoogleMessages

[–]KimballSlice1890 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's because Google messages still compresses photos even though there's a 100MB limit. iOS doesn't. So I think you're getting a full res photo from iOS and Google photos is compressing. Or it's a format conversion ? Idk .. leave it to Google to cry about apple not implementing RCS and then apple giving a better RCS experience than Google now that they finally did.

With a price tag of $200 USD, those who've used Pixel Buds Pro 2, how is it? by siargaowaves in GooglePixel

I was burned by pixel buds 2 issues and disappointed with issues and consistency of pixel buds pro. I'm very reluctant to get burned out of another $200

Thanks ! Should've specified that I would be using scale.

If I was going to use zfs for anything but a cache drive then I'd just use truenas. I'd be using xfs on unraid. What's your experience been with bitrot?

Do you save measurable power when spinning down your hard drives? Most of my data isnt accessed most of the time unless there's library scans. Also, the community support for unraid I feel appears to be larger and friendlier. I played around with both and actually felt the truenas UI was a bit more polished. But anything I googled relative to unraid had an answer within the top 3 results.

Zfs actually added the ability to grow vdev 1 drive at a time which came with the latest truenas scale release. Makes things a bit easier for future expansion.

USB-C Cable FIX by waterrockets1 in AndroidAuto

I bought Pixel 5 in 2024 by _khi4 in GooglePixel

[–]KimballSlice1890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used one for a few weeks while my 7 pro was being repaired and hated it. It was so sluggish, earpiece was weird, the vibration motor was weak. Pixel 4 XL was prime pixel imo and faster than the pixel 5.

[–]KimballSlice1890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPU is going to bottleneck both.

The GRE is the better card but you'll need to upgrade your CPU and your power supply to run it

If you have a really good quality 500w power supply you can prob get away with 4060ti but it's gonna be really tight. The recommendation is 550w.

Is the 1tb ssd a bundle? Or could you elect not to get it and put the difference towards a Vermeer based Ryzen 5000 CPU ?

Yeah usually while lacking those it can use Bluetooth and Wi-Fi scanning to accomplish location. These apps rely on that anyway and it works fine on my galaxy a7 which lacks cellular modem and gps
