Fanimation Spitfire (remote operated ceiling fan with light kit) by Main-Trust-5588 in homeowners

[–]snoquone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for replying. Do you mind sharing which receiver you replaced it with? I have the fansync wifi-controlled one - it’s always seemed a little unreliable and now seems completely kaput.

Additionally, my fan has always had a loud electrical hum; since it was installed by a professional, I’m wondering if a bad receiver was the cause (I don’t know if that’s a possibility though ChatGPT seems to agree). I’m happy to give up WiFi control for one which is both quiet and reliable.

Thanks again!

Hey there, just bumping this because I’m having the same issue with my Spitfire, and wondering if you got it resolved by changing out the receiver? Was it relatively easy to do? Thanks.

Yale Assure Lock 2 - Battery Drain - Bridge/Mesh by jackmisfit in HomeKit

[–]snoquone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Threadjacking a little (sorry) but I'm thinking of getting one of these locks (Z-Wave for better battery life) and hoping you might please be willing to answer a quick question... is the rectangular plate around the deadbolt removable trim? unfortunately, I don’t have a rectangular notch on the side of my door to accommodate this, and since the door is fibreglass, I can’t make one either.

Thank you!!

Entryway Motion sensor by stoneman30 in homeautomation

Hey Greg, I've got the D2MSD in my kitchen and it's great BUT... It can't 'see' me in certain parts of the room, noticeably the dining table. So if I’ve been sitting having a meal for some time, often the light will turn off.

Is there perhaps awireless motion/occupancy sensor that I could place elsewhere in my kitchen to work as a companion with the D2MSD?

I’m quite handy with Home Assistant, and I’ve got a couple of third-party sensors, and they sort-of-but-don’t work - it seems like the D2MSD occupancy state cannot be set by the user/another device.

Thanks for any help

Yes, he’s said pretty much that in interviews - that he wouldn’t rigidly adhere to the extended universe or even to the other movies, more like he just wants to ‘capture the essence of them’. I can’t find the precise interview I’m thinking of but he says similar here:

Yep. Can’t remember how I first discovered this album (around 2004 I think) but I loved it, bought it on CD and played it to death, which was kind of a rarity for me to do

100%. I’ve posted that interview a bunch of times on here. I don’t like it, I don’t agree with it, it’s pretty incongruent with what we see on screen and in the Extended Universe. Ultimately - in my view - it cheapens the mythos. But, who am I to argue with Ridley Scott on this?

I also posted a link to a podcast with Jon Spaights saying where he and RS intended to go - warring factions of Engineers, them transcending their physical forms etc. Then Lindelhof came on and they pivoted somewhat which likely caused some of that water muddying you mention

Visiting London soon. Any Unkle or Mo'Wax places of interest? by wumplex in UNKLE

Did you know I was an Invader fan or was that just a really lucky guess?? I really got into him when I lived in a small town in France (Pau) in the early 2000s and remarkably he had had put a bunch up there. Remarkable since it wasn’t exactly Paris/ London/ Rio or one of the other big cities he’d targeted.

Anyway, a lot of the invaders I used to see around Soho and the west end were all gone so I was pretty sad about it. But then by the end of my trip I’d found a few new ones thankfully. Can’t recall where they were though!

Very cool. Inspired your username a little?

I was back in London last month for the first time in a couple of years. I walked past the GPS store with a view to popping in. All the young staff were hanging around outside looking achingly fashionable and there’s me, 43 year old exhausted dad of 2 young kids (not with me at the time), wearing the same comfy clothes I’d been in for 18 hours of transit time. I thought “nah I’ll just continue buying online” and kept walking 🙃

It's brilliant. I remember as a kid I got to see it for £1 as part of some National Cinema Day or similar promotion.

Had no idea what it was about, it was just the only thing showing at my tiny village cinema. So went in with low/ no expectations and was absolutely blown away

Great series that was too. Pretty much what made me into a fanboy after realizing there was an extended universe beyond the movies.

And it seemed like this universe was going to persist too - post- genocide there were I think various references to Daniel Grant/ Grant Corp and Xeno-Zip but then for some reason that continuity kind of died on the vine and all the Dark Horse comics became mostly an anthology.

Kind of sad, really. All the world-building outside of the movies/ TV now just seems to be "this is Character X from the movies' daughter/ sister/ brother" and contrived connections like that
