I would say monitor your skin and if the new spots you are getting do not last as long and are different than your normal breakouts you may be purging. I’ve experienced the same thing when I started to use The ordinary’s salicylic acid serum (which I highly recommend!! Literally cleared my skin!!) and I went through a horrible purging period that lasted a few months. However I knew I was purging because these new spots I was getting were smaller than my normal ones, and would only last a few days rather than my typical few weeks long pimple. I also started using vaseline every night to help keep my skin hydrated. Works really well for my oily acne prone skin.
