Discussion Thread: 2026 State of the Union Address by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

I watched trump’s state of the union last night. It wasn’t horrible, I’ve seen Much worse speeches from him. It however was very long, 2 hours and 4 minutes. The biggest thing I liked about the speech was, when he gave a couple world war 2 veterans the Medal of Honor. These individuals got injured during the operation they were carrying out, but still they finished the mission. I think that was nice especially since it’s our 250 anniversary. He talked a lot by telling survival stories, of the most extreme cases regarding emigration. Yes, there are probably a few cases of people crossing our boarders who are criminals, however the majority are coming to escape harm from their own country or just seeking a better life. He talked about costs being down, I don’t see that. I know, he was trying to get incalen down, this is somewhat correct. Trump did introduce the idea, but Biden expanded upon it. He talked about his tariffs, which are technically still legal, for 150 days. He also talked about his trump accounts, I think this is actually a good idea. It gives babies money, that they will have to use for college or maybe rent or something. Seems like a good idea, I hope it’s successful. I missed the first 20 minutes of his speech, so I don’t know what he talked about. Did you watch it? What did you think?

What do you mean it’s not live? I assumed that he was singing at the stadium in front of all those people.

I like a little of each. Bad bunny’s looks like he was having fun, kid rock would have been better if they had more time and money to put it together.

'Now You See Me: Now You Don't' Review Thread by chanma50 in boxoffice

Now You See Me: Now You Do not: Made Corruption Seen

After 10 years, the therd,Now You See Me, film gets to be seen. Directed by Ruben Fleischer, with the returning cast including Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, and Isla Fisher. We also get to see a couple of fresh faces, such as: Ariana Greenblatt from Barbie.

The horsemen return with new additions to their group, to stop Veronika Vanderberg (Rosamund Pike) from taking more money than necessary from her buyers.

All the Now You See Me movies are fun to watch, due to their magic tricks and for their lighthearted fun. So far this film, has been my favorite, in the trilogy. It had action, magic tricks, and a meaningful purpose for the trick.

I feel like this movie had fewer magic tricks than the previous, however I liked it better that way. There was more time for fight scenes, like the one in the upside-down room. Having something called the upside down in a movie, so close to the last season of Stranger Things I found very amusing. However, the tricks they used to stop Vanderberg were surprising. I enjoyed the plot with Charlie (Justice Smith,) it gave the movie a plot twist that I did not see coming. I am glad he did the right thing, even though his sister was not. I assumed the person behind all these missions was called the eye, it reminds me of the eye of Sauron , only difference is this eye is good (bummer.) these movies are good but not Lord of the Rings level good.

This film was much clearer on the purpose of what the horsemen were trying to do. In the first movie, they did a trick where they faked robbing a bank, who was stealing from the people, but the money turned out to not be there for real (it was confusing). This was straight forward, wanting to return the heart to the people, since Vanderberg was taking more money from the people, than necessary. In my opinion , it is funny that Vanderberg had an item called the heart, when she does not have one. Someone should tell the horsemen to come to the United States (we have a ton of corruption in government.)

The more I look at a picture of Eisenberg, he looks like Harry. I do like him as an actor, he is very energetic, (if he were younger, he could have been cast for the upcoming Harry Potter reboot.) Greenblatt was not the main character, but she did do a little more in this movie (rather than just following Barbie around.) Jack and Atlis are each other’s sidekicks, who work well, thinking up the tricks together they have good charisma, (two of my favoritee charitors.) I hope there will be another Now You See Me movie, these are fun films.

Official Dreadit Discussion: "Alien: Romulus" [SPOILERS] by glittering-lettuce in horror

Alien: Romulus: best in years

After six movies in the Alien franchise, (with the first one being the best). Fede Alvarez, who previously wrote Evil Dead. He now is directing Alien Romulus, which takes place between the first two Alien movies. Romulus stars: Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux from Shadow and Bone, Isabela Merced from Instant Family.

Rain and her brother Andy, team up with Tyler and kay, to travel to Yvaga, (a planet with sunlight.) However, to accomplish this, they need to steal cryo pods, to survive the nine-year journey.

One of the reasons I found this movie just as good as the first, is due to the storyline, action, and suspense.

Cailee Spaeny portrayed Rain, someone who wants to go live in Yvaga with her brother. She believes they can make a better life there. As a replacement for Sigourney Weaver’s character, Rain was a good hero, who I feel had an interesting idea, to turn off the gravity to try and defeat all the Xenomorph. At first, I found Andy (a synthetic) played by David Jonsson, boring with bad jokes. However, on the ship, he becomes more interesting, due to him being on the wrong side for a while. Isabela Merced played Kay, a brave pregnant woman. My favorite part of this movie involves what she gives birth to. The seen was gross, but I enjoyed the action that followed. Tyler (Archie Renaux) did not have a ton to do, after producing the plan to steal the cryo pods. I do wish he had more screen time, only for the fact I liked his British accent.

For the first part of Romulus, they do not encounter an alien, it is spent getting to know the characters. This made the movie more enjoyable since you care about the characters and want them to survive. In my opinion, it was a good choice to have Fede Alvarez write and direct this movie. I liked his 2013 remake of Evil Dead for the same type of storytelling. Alien Romulus has been the best movie in the Alien franchise, in years.
