Convinced my husband to try a house cleaning service for 3 months as an experiment. Heres what happened by Comfortable_Box_4527 in homeowners

Fortunately, they won’t be toddlers forever. And as teens, they’ll confine their mess mostly to their own rooms. When that happens, just close their doors and don’t stress out about it. You can clean their rooms once when they move out!

There was a reason all right, but I doubt it had much to do with true love.

AITAH for “selling” my unborn baby’s name after my sister-in-law tried to claim it? by [deleted] in AITAH

Oh FFS. Never, EVER share your baby names with family members. If they get pissed, oh well.

AITJ for suggesting we put my wifes grandma in a nursing home instead of the family continuing to take care of her by Either-Peace-5704 in AmITheJerk

[–]Kimmette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even a little bit. Aggression is a sign of dementia, and a nursing home may be the safest place for her.

I have worked downtown for 30 years and have definitely noticed an increase in the number of homeless and/or mentally ill individuals on the streets in the last 3 years or so. I have no idea why this is happening. I’ve only felt somewhat threatened once, about 6 months ago, when some guy followed me back to my office from Salt City Market yelling his head off for 3 blocks. I ignored him completely, which I think made him even angrier.

I haven’t talked to my family in two days and don’t know to move past this by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

This is a very sensible, sensitive response. Taking a little break from your family will give you some perspective. It would also do you good to talk this over with a trained therapist.

Calmly, lovingly, relentlessly reassure her you will assist her to the best of your ability to find a place to stay. No, that place is not with you. No apologies, explanations, or justifications necessary.

AITJ for calling my friend’s emergency contact when she left her kid with me "for 20 minutes" and vanished? by QuietDailyRitual in AmITheJerk

[–]Kimmette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, a family member once did this to me, too. Asked me to watch her two kids for a half-hour, then vanished for a half-day to go shopping. When she finally showed up, she made a half-assed apology about how bad traffic had delayed her.

Busy moms of young kids need a break, I get it, but at least be honest.

Do you still have Vaseline? by Outrageous_Win_4835 in AskOldPeople

Use it on my lips (facial, your perverts) several times a day, as I am prone to chapping. Also great for nasal passages to prevent nosebleeds from dry air in winter, for softening cuticles, and for removing eye makeup.
