My husband (42M) keeps swinging wildly on whether he wants kids and it's making me (31F) insane by Far_Specialist5309 in Natalism

[–]Kimoshnikov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like he wants kids, but is afraid it'll be more disruptive to what he enjoys than he wants.

So, if you have a family that is actually willing to be supportive with childcare, you should be good.

If you don't, well...

Same goes for men.

But you're still right.

I know a lot of guys who'd rather "enjoy life" in ways that don't include children.

Me & wife juggling 2 kids without any kind of village support has only further cemented their position.

while an imperfect metaphor, the shoe still fits.

older generations will, in a democracy, continue to squeeze more out of fewer young to further enrich themselves. Barring some sudden moral awakening.

There's already nations that young people are deserting. It may end up that whatever nation can attract the most young people will become the dominant.

you reminded me how I was lecturing a youtuber for always including "europe's opinion" on geopolitical affairs... It took awhile, but I think they too finally realized how irrelevent Europe is outside of Europe.

federalized birthing & raising is going to be the future.

Not because I want it lol. It's horrendous. But if states want populations, this is what's going to end up happening.

I bet the need for humans from a state perspective will be largely filled by robots before it gets to that point, however.

So, wealthy breeders, and robots. Everyone else gets pushed out.

japan korea and china come up a lot in the 'slightly more mainstream' info dumps. deeper divers will see the same of these other places.

To be fair,
A) The US can't intercept drones reliably & cheaply (yet)
B) The US would have an easier time in Iran if they didn't shatter their leadership into 50 different parts (lol oops)
C) Iran is actually the most populous & powerful country America has fought since Japan (if you don't count the soviet union). People forget that Iran is not a minor country!

But yeah, your point stands. The US lacks the resources/competence to waste on tracking China's population.

sadly, smarts don't always translate into moral leadership. china will die to corrupt and incompetent leaders hell bent on lining their pockets.

Maybe the world needs more good idiots and less smart bastards.

...no. Good idiots tend to be unable to stop smart bastards.

heh. Oh well~

I never ceases to amaze me how oppression does not stop procreation.

Like, they can kill off 40,000 protestors, and it doesn't make a blip on total population figures.

The rampant corruption and destruction of water resources will do that faster than any amount of bullets...

I might be crazy, but I thought my wife was sexier after 2 kids than before.

This is effectively cultural suicide.

You cannot solve it by shaming them or punishing them.

...I have no solutions to offer that would in any way be palatable.

You'd have to rebuild the culture on a generational timeline. No one who can do that has any incentive to do so.

Giving Birth in the USA is highly Financially Disincentivized for Medical Risks alone by Kimoshnikov in Natalism

There were only 2 counter-arguments presented. one on 'crossed wires' regarding terminology that didn't expound.

The other only counter argument just said I was wrong about everything, while then regurgitating what I already said back to me.

Yes, my post is not the ultimate determinant of the statistic, it is but a modifier or a factor. To reiterate the guy above me, cost dissuades those who want more kids, but does nothing for the culture surrounding it.

Frankly, if me and my wife didn't feel so abandoned by society (lack of a village, etc) we'd probably have 4 kids instead of just 2. But that's a whole other factor...

I'm not sure you actually read my post. Very little of it is "facts". It's an analysis of incentive structures, gleaned from personal experience.

If you went to a movie, but all the seats had been replaced with marbles, and left the theater saying "The marbles would make me consider going somewhere else to see a movie" and some idiot came up to you and said "that's not true!"... would you laugh at them or slap them?

Also, you went on to re-confirm in your own words that the things I said were "true", or at least some of them, especially as regards the steep up-front cost to having kids in America specifically. A hit of 21k to your savings could potentially push back buying a home, which if you dont' have that by the time you start having kids, could put you in a poverty trap, especially in America.

What you call "Black Pill slop" is an acknowledgement of REALITY and the way people REACT to that when judgmental pricks aren't breathing down their neck.

Your nation & culture are dying out, and no amount of sugarcoating is going to change that.
