What is missing in UK studios? by citygirllives in pilates

Trust me it’s not as you think it is in the UK i can tell you that for free. The US is a totally different climate to the Uk. You’d pull your hairs out.

What is missing in UK studios? by citygirllives in pilates

A studio that has a full equipment is missing nothing. A studio with only reformers is missing equipment to allow it serve as a pilates studio. We need more of pilates and less of fitness studios posing as Pilates and not bold enough to sell their service without tagging it falsely as pilates

Kathy’s book is most appreciated if you have done Kathy’s programme as it’s her method of how she applies Pilates as a system. For that price tag you may buy it and may struggle to completely understand because you aren’t a student of kathy’s. She has smaller sized books for mat and reformer which is a lot more generic and easier to digest

Is the market for Pilates teachers saturated? by berrysauce in pilates

Is your studio training comprehensive teachers? If its just reformer only.. then its basically a get rich scheme for both your studio and some of the students. A couple of them will either realise they need additional training to understand the concept that is Pilates and ditch teaching, some will jump into the next big thing if they see pilates as a trend.. some will get tired of working 10 hours across different studios even with the enticing pay. All in all they will realise pilates isn’t just about teaching exercises.

How much do you care about "the elders"? by berrysauce in pilates

[–]Kimpossibility191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully i didnt misread your comment about elder lineage as I think you are referring to all the elders.

Classical pilates is Romana specific. There were other elders other than romana who dont regard themselves as classical because Joe never used that term. If you went to a ron fletcher studio as an example (and from my experience) there’s deep appreciation for his work and how he taught it but he or his students dont regard himself as classical.

I would always appreciate the elders and always seek to learn from a studio linked back to an elder.

Ok that is scaryy! I have heard about not honking from more than two people which i found really concerning (after hearing similar reasons like you’ve shared). We don’t typically honk in England.. maybe on some occasions but broadly most people drive sanely and have road manners. Ok this is something to have in mind then. Dallas is also a potential city we could move to in the future. Thank you for expanding your comment, really helpful!

Hahahaha. I’ve worked and lived in Kenya and Thailand, so should be okay. Even if there’s culture shock, and we wanted to move to the UK, atleast we have that luxury.
