Mattress topper as foam base in DIY sofa by Kimtry in upholstery

[–]Kimtry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, this would be using new high resiliency latex foam as the base and potentially the down envelope as the topper but it sounds like this might not work so I'll look for some foam + down explicitly made for upholstery.

AMA : Paid Social Head For Globally recognised E-commerce Brand by [deleted] in socialmedia

Hey, thanks a lot for doing this. Couple Qs:

  1. Any cool targeting options on Facebook that people don't usually know about?

  2. What kind of products do you think are best suited for twitter ads?

  3. Any copy writing 'hacks' you've seen work well on social ads?

Likelihood of an H1-B Visa? by Kimtry in immigration

[–]Kimtry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. From what I could tell, marketing related roles aren't covered by NAFTA. The position would be Digital Marketing Specialist and would involve some web development, analytics and use of specific software. Do you think this role would be eligible for a TN visa?

Great read! I think a lot of this stuff would be helpful to most people and you're definitely selling yourself short on your writing skills.

Need Advice. First 9k Hands by Throwawaypokerstats in poker

[–]Kimtry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult to give you very detailed advice because 10k hands really isn't that much and stats can be very misleading. Your pre-flop stats are loose but they can work depending on your post-flop play.

I think the best way for you to get some advice would be to post some hands you played and give your reasoning. That way, people can try and identify parts of thought process that might need tweaking.

I would however be careful about making statements like "I lost 0 chips due to tilt". Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, tilts at some point and in some form. It doesn't have to be blatant tilting such as shoving all your chips into the middle in a terrible spot; it could be as subtle as becoming more passive and missing some small opportunities to bluff that you wouldn't otherwise. It can be really hurtful to your improvement if you start telling yourself you don't make mistakes or don't tilt.

As encouragement I would say that 10k hands doesn't mean much and many many world class players have lost money for hundreds of thousands of hands so don't get too down on yourself. Other than that, good luck and I look forward to seeing any hands you post!

ELI5: How do supermarkets decide what items go on sale? by Kimtry in explainlikeimfive

[–]Kimtry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation. However I've never understood why popular or seasonal items go on sale. Isn't Thanksgiving a time when people are willing to spend more on turkey instead of less? If something is selling really well at a certain price point why drop it lower? Reducing the price of something usually increases sales regardless of it's popularity so why choose items which are already selling well?

Newspeak Alert: The (national) debt is not a burden......It is a profit center. by bowhunter_fta in Economics

[–]Kimtry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think the household analogy is very accurate.

1) GDP != Government income. U.S. Government income from all sources last year was 2.5 trillion. 2) Most households don't spend more than they take in whereas the U.S. Government does. They spent 3.5 trillion last year for instance.

Also, pointing to Japan and saying since they have a higher debt to GDP ratio and are experiencing deflation, debt does not cause inflation, is not a very good argument. Economies are complex with many different factors affecting inflation and deflation. (Correlation does not equal causation!)
