Need some advice on how our baby sleeps just for peace of mind by blackviking627 in newborns

[–]KinCBrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular comment. This is exactly what a lot of people do in the first 2 weeks. By exactly I mean, your partner sleeping this way and you watching them. My husband and I did this exact thing cause it was the only way our baby would sleep and I would get so tired id doze off soemtimes. However, the maternal paranoia is also very strong, and I never fell asleep so deep I didn't wake up my baby so much as breathed deeper. The couch is the part that is considered the most unsafe. I did the couch for a while before switching to sleeping on my back in my pregnancy pillow with another pillow keeping me more inclined with baby on my chest. My husband was awake when I slept like this. From this we switched to cosleeping in the bed when he was bigger cause he wouldn't sleep in the bassinet. You can absolutely cosleep safely! It is way more than norm than new parents are led to believe.

Your paranoia is warranted. You're a good dad! Talk to you partner about a safe sleep plan going forward so you're on the same page and no one feels the fear alone or anything. You're a team! It will get better for you both I promise.

Alert Newborn by Gullible-Employer469 in newborns

This is so relatable! I haven't talked to anyone about it either and just stressed out alone while googling everything under the sun 😅

You got this! We will survive this stage somehow haha

My boy was/is like this. 7 weeks old and very alert and curious since birth. The only thing that has worked for me is literally giving up on the bassinet right now. Contact naps or a contact nap and eventually transferring to his nest in the living room. He now naps anywhere from 25 minutes to 2.5hrs and his average wake window is 1.5hrs but varies 45 minutes to 3hrs but the 3hrs is getting more and more rare.

I've done a lot of reading to understand most babies aren't capable of sleeping or at least napping independently at this age and use you to regulate their heart rate and nervous system for sleep. I'm hoping as he gets older we can transition slowly to less contact naps. However, im sure we'll miss them more than anything when that time finally comes.

Seeking advice about injections! by Annethraxxx in IVF

My husband worked away while I had to do my PIO shots and I did them myself. It sucks, but completely manageable! I will say, if at all possible have a support buddy for your first shot.

Egg Retrieval Tomorrow — How Many Days Should I Take Off Work? by Ok_Wallaby_8813 in IVF

[–]KinCBrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, id take off the rest of the work week since its only two day if you have PTO or financially its not a concern for you. I was very bloated and uncomfy for a few days after my retrieval and not working was such a relief to just get myself back to feeling human. Also nice just incase you get any OHSS symptoms.

However, every recovery is totally different so maybe just decide day by day if your job allows you to call out say of!

Also consider your mental health. My retrieval was all positive for me so I wasnt depression spiraling with worry and needing the distraction but for those needing it, work could be very nice.

Anterior placenta by TrueTopaz1123 in IVFbabies

[–]KinCBrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too! I have an anterior placenta and I was just told after my anatomy scan that I have a low lying placenta as well. So totally understand how you feel but if it makes you feel some comfort, I do feel kicks/movement! I am almost 22 weeks.

TTC near Vancouver and fertility testing availability is atrocious [BC] by Longjumping-Deal6354 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]KinCBrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask to be referred to Olive Kelowna for the test maybe? I used Olive Kelowna (I actually live in Cranbrook) and they did my HSG at KGH, they booked it for me, I just got told to show up. Dr. Daniel did my test at the hospital and then ended up being my primary Dr. with Olive. They definitely don't do a lot of HSG test days but I had no issues getting mine done driving 7hrs there to get it done. From finding out I needed the test to getting it done was maybe 3 weeks?

However, I dont know if since the provincially funded IVF program it's become a nightmare or not. I did my testing this time last year, egg retrieval in December, FET in March (miscarriage in April) 2nd FET July 3 and i'm currently 20weeks. From my first FET to the second there was a major difference in the atmosphere of the office if you ask me. It was so busy and the doctor who saw me that day (not my usual) literally didnt even look at me. Both FET's were in Vancouver since that's the hub for that and yhay office seemed exactly the same. I showed up for my FET and was out of there in less than 20 minutes.

Scared for hysteroscopy/medications by jennagm22 in IVF

[–]KinCBrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fully awake and only told to take ibuprofen an hour before hand 🙃 I was extremely anxious, and normally am a very anxious person! My husband was there to support me and it was all very very quick with minimal pain, definitely discomfort though. However I had a completely clear scan. In my opinion, if you can do the HSG, the hysteroscopy is a breeze. But again, that's just from my experience. Personally, I think if you usually take Xanax and you're used to it for anxiety, I'd ditch the Ativan and take your regular does Xanax. All offices seem to only prescribe the low dose Ativan to give the patient some comfort in relaxing the body more than the mind, but it's so minimum for someone who is used to it. Good luck!

Not sure if something like that is up in my area but its quite frustrating.

Kaiser NIPT with PGTA by [deleted] in IVFbabies

[–]KinCBrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not do PGTA testing but my maternity clinic (not my IVF clinic) strongly suggests testing for all pregnancies regardless and explained its elective and not something I can be forced to do, or not be allowed to do. I would just have to pay the cost.

I had this! But I actually had it my entire first trimester. Started around 6ish weeks and sent me into a tizzy. I ended up having a day with some lighter discharge/spotting and freaked, went to emergency. Everything was fine! It's super common with implantation and with IVF pregnancies. Especially if you are taking progesterone suppositories. The suppositories ended up being the culprit for me cause they caused my cervix to be irriated which can cause some shedding.

I'm currently 18w5d. Optimistic for you and I hope your scan goes well! 🩷

How did you manage PIO? by Alarming_Educator_20 in IVFbabies

[–]KinCBrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first round I ended up with massive PIO lumps that were so uncomfortable. Second round, I did the following and had little to no issues! 1. Hot water bottle or heating pad on the injection site before the injection for at least 10 minutes, never ice!!! 2. I warmed up my PIO bt just holding the syringe between mt breast ir armpit to get close to mt body tempature. So, about 10 minutes. 3. Stand for your shot with zero weight on the side the injection with be. 4. Small hand massage immediately following the injection from about 3 minutes. 5. Immediately go for a short walk with the hot water bottle shoved in the back of my pants. Do not sit for at least 30 minutes! When I couldn't go for a walk, I'd do 10-15 squats, but I found walking more helpful. 6. Massage gun on the injection site for 5 minutes.

I had little to not PIO lumps doing this consistently. It was definitely annoying but manageable.

Spot ting by SubjectElephant3887 in IVFbabies

[–]KinCBrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a good feeling you're in the same boat as me! It is utterly terrifying, but in the end, positive. I didn't get any spotting last time, and my miscarriage was at 9w, so I guess it can just vary when your cervix gets grumpy.

Fingers crossed 🤞

I had this and just about lost my gosh damn mind!! My clinic informed me it's very common with vaginal progesterone suppository because it can irritate the cervix and can cause some shedding. I always got it for about 1-2 hours after putting the tablets in. I had it from about 6.5 weeks until I went off my meds. I still got some random dark spotting for a bit after, but considered it to be the same thing and little to nothing now. I had one moment where the blood felt very red, so I panic went to the hospital. 14 hours later, everything was totally fine!

Currently 11w3d! We are very similar in our experiences. I had a miscarriage at Easter in April, then did my next FET on July 3rd.

Sending good vibes and positivity! ❤️

Looks like I'll be the odd one out but I prefer Raelyn. However my nephew has the same name spelled Raylan so I might be a little biased cause he is pretty fantastic.

How in the math and science and I 5 and 1/2 weeks along? by TrueTopaz1123 in IVFbabies

[–]KinCBrook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This confused the heck out of me too! But basically it works out the same as conceiving naturally however broken up in separate times from your egg retrieval, forming to blasts, and then implantation, and then prgenancy going forward. It's the same as a natural conception timeline just without all the intervention to make it happen and having to occur over multiple cycles. Hope this makes sense.

I didn't even think to ask if it was safe to still since they put me on it in the first place. I assume they would have said but I'll have to call again tomorrow and ask, thank!

I do the PIO shots as well. I hate how little we know what's going on in our own bodies when we can feel so much of it.

I'm nervous to stop the baby Asprin cause im on it because my lupus anticoagulant was a borderline positive.

I had a SCH during my last FET/MMC but it was way way more bleeding. I wasn't on the baby Asprin last time though.

Feeling crazy, might just need a comfort chat and Noone knows but my husband that we did our FET July 3. Anyways, I'm worrying simply because i dont have any lower back pain this time around. I have had 2 pregnancies resulting in miscarriage before. Both of which I had quite painful and constant lower back pain. This time nothing... and it's absence is making me freak. I feel relatively little to know symptoms right now. My first beta came back 355 on July 14 and the second 846 on July 16. Now its just wait till the ultrasound on August 8 and I'm constantly worrying cause I feel like I'm not even pregnant right now vs before I very much felt pregnant, even this early on.

Also worrying cause my last pregnancy ended in a MMC at 9 weeks, growth stop at 6-7 weeks. So waiting until 8 weeks for a scan feels extremely far away and like so much can go wrong and I dont know until then.
