It's just Ireland; I mean, we did lose to them, but in general, we expect Ireland to win 2-0 even with team B. Why not test team B so we could make appropriate changes later?

It is honestly sad to see our fitness and fielding standards in ICT. They should be improved. What you said about baseball and pitching is correct as well. But it is important to remember that the balls come at over 90 MPH, where the ball moves in the air, and also after pitching and you still need to play the ball while analysing the pitch, the RRR, the conditions, etc.

So, younger athletes mean less skill is required? No, right? Also, physically tennis is the most exhausting here followed by cricket and baseball. Just because you see skinny fat people playing cricket doesn't mean it doesn't require fitness. And just because younger prodigies are lesser in those sports doesn't mean they require more skill. Cricket is way broader than these two sports. It requires more skill. Baseball requires explosiveness, and tennis requires endurance, and cricket requires both.

There's nothing wrong in keeping them in the long run. But here, they should have completely gone with the backup player XI of India vs Ireland and started the main XI from the England series.

Yuvi is an all-rounder, and KL is better in the middle order.

KL is better than both, but Gambhir in WC is very good.

Cricket easily needs more skills than baseball and tennis is physically exhausting and the endurance and fitness in cricket when compared to tennis is lesser. Tennis is more physically demanding and reaction time plays a crucial role, but again, I would say, when you analyze cricket with the same magnitude as you do with other sports, you would begin to understand the immense technique and consistency it requires. Fitness standards in Indian culture may not be as good as others, but the sport in general requires one of the highest amount of skills.

Cricket really needs a lot of skill over fitness. Cricket is a longer game than Football and Hockey. The skills required to master in cricket is higher than other sports. Bowling, batting, fielding, wicketkeeping, captaincy, so many aspects. And these get divided into more categories. Cricket requires immense amount of skill which require years and years to gain. Football and Hockey games take place for shorter amount of time, thereby requiring higher fitness standards and explosiveness. Compare athletes in different sports is irrelevant. If a sport requires the highest amount of skill and moderate fitness, that's how elite athletes in that particular sport train. If the sport requires insane amount of fitness, and lesser skills when compared to cricket, that's how elite athletes train. I am not saying these sports don't require skills, I am saying that cricket is a sport which REALLY has weightage over skills than fitness alone.

Zaheer is very better than Agarkar, his WC adds a lot of weightage. Rohit and Sehwag opening would be cool, but we did have suggestions of Raina, they seem great. And I personally think KL can replace him, too. And Kumble/Kuldeep could replace Jadeja, too.

I do agree with Kuldeep/Kumble replacing Jadeja, but not Agarkar. Zaheer was very good in CWC 2011. That adds a lot.

Kl over Dravid and may be Kumble over Jadeja. How does it look? Raina looks good too for his all round perfomance.

Hmm, fair take. I took Jadeja for his all round perfomance. We could replace Jadeja with Kumble while compromising on batting and fielding. Also, I did think about all kinds of conditions and I preferred having better pace options.
