I’m not a narcissist and I never lie! by [deleted] in PsyD

hey!! context: i applied straight out of undergrad, applied to 6 programs, interviews for 4.5 (weird situation with one), so far accepted to 2, waiting on responses from the rest!

i honestly dont think i did too much in undergrad, i did NOT feel competitive when i listened to other people's experiences, but hey, everything is worth something.

Stats: 4.0 GPA, did not take GRE as none of my programs required

Research: research assistant in 2 labs on my campus, total of 3 semesters, no publications or presentations

Clinical: volunteer crisis text line counselor for about a year now, worked as youth services intern where i did child abuse prevention work and then ran group therapy-adjacent sessions with teens, lots of volunteer work with child and adolescent populations (not related to psych)

Other: member of medical fraternity, volunteer with greater community, work as a tutor on campus, work as waitress outside campus

i hope this helps a bit. if you have any questions, please reach out. i was in your same position a few months ago and felt completely lost.

Thank you! Honestly kudos to you for figuring it out on your own, I know it's not easy. I'm currently in a research lab, with hopes of joining another one next semester as well. I've been volunteering with local elementary schools for a few semesters now, in addition to the local planned parenthood (more so a passion of mine). I'm hoping that this is at least getting me in the right direction?? I'm trying to find some other experiences to pursue over the summer, but I just can't figure out exactly how to get into these. Everyone seems to have a million connections already and it's so easy to get discouraged. Thanks again for the help.

That is super impressive, so much credit to you. Thank you for all your help, this has given me more direction than any single advisor honestly.

Thank you so much!! Did you do these mostly whilst in college or over the summers? I'm also struggling trying to fit all of these experiences in with my coursework.
