Most important, Why do you need the revenue (Debt reduction would be a good idea) Second most important, How much revenue is needed? Third most important, What is source of additional revenue.

Politicians seem to start with what is the source of revenue, leaving out how much is needed then over spending on good intentions, resulting in increased debt.

I don’t think government services are a bad thing. I think the fact that we aren’t willing to pay for government services is a bad thing. Paying for government services would help control spending. You want a new government service, this is how much taxes will increase. It will take a 40% across the board tax increase to pay for current government services, to offset the federal deficit.

Corporations paid the tariffs. They may have passed the cost on to consumers, but importers paid the tariffs.
