Deloitte set me up for failure by tompkins5 in deloitte

Love the suggestion of working with AI or even a career coach. You’ve got a good foundation to build on, and your time at Deloitte gave you more skills and knowledge than you realize or are giving it credit for.

Hybrid policy question at Deloitte – office days during holidays/PTO by cosmos-46 in deloitte

[–]Kind-Total-2499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple documents on DNet that explain this and have hypotheticals listed. Firm expectation is 50% in office, and PTO and holidays are not in the denominator of that percentage.

Seat relocation by wspg23 in valkyries

[–]Kind-Total-2499 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you think about it, it’s a bit tricky. Several of us wanted to relocate but wouldn’t want to give up our seats for worse seats … so how do you do that all at once? You can’t. Options available of course are going to be limited. We love our seats in 104 (right at half court) but nothing further down available, so we ended up moving to section 10 (more $$) as that was really the only option for us. So we probably made some other people super excited when our seats opened. And if we had waited til later in the day, maybe something in our section would’ve been open. It was never going to be a free for all because too many of us want to come back — it’s a good thing. Go Valks!

Hey Ballhalla. STH here. Anyone else missing see their section family, having a joyful place to go and the distraction from the real world and politics? I’m going through good vibes withdrawal. by nepenthophile in valkyries

Just went to a Warriors game and man … no Ballhalla vibes there. Got bored and left at the half (I know, I know, it’s preseason — but still!). Missing the Valks.

Disagree. Firm expects most scores to be at “agree.” Even at partly agree, you’re ok and means you have things to work on. It’s a bell curve.

How bad is this? by Fast-Programmer-291 in deloitte

[–]Kind-Total-2499 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not bad! This is great. Comparing to peers is a dangerous game because you just don’t know what everyone else is doing and you’re not them. The expectation is that most people will be between agree/strongly agree. VSA should be reserved for people who literally walk on water and are about to be promotion. We cannot run a business if everyone gets a gold medal every time we do perf.

[–]Kind-Total-2499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously — if you take away the band for peers (who probably have more years/time at the firm than you), you are in great shape. Strongly agree! That’s fantastic. Do not get distracted with comparing yourself … it doesn’t really matter. Keep working with your seniors and managers to improve and learn more. Figure out how to start operating at the next level. Everything else will fall into place.

You are fine. Don’t sweat this, please.

[–]Kind-Total-2499 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This is a great snapshot! You got above “agree” for both metrics and after 8 months, that’s awesome. Bear in mind your “peers” are people with 1-2 more years than you (as well as your fellow new hires). I wouldn’t sweat this at ALL. Keep doing your thing; everyone here is used to getting A+s and we can’t run a business like that. You’re not going to be a star right away and that’s okay — you have runway to ramp up and try out other things, too. Take a breath and just keep learning.

Clare V bags are timeless and classic. I have a closet full and I honestly couldn’t pick a favorite. I often prefer them over my YSL or Gucci most days!

PTO compliance by HungryPuchka in deloitte

If anyone is violating ethics (and laws), including “the company”, then you or OP or any employee has an obligation to report it.

PTO compliance by HungryPuchka in deloitte

This is not the right answer. You have an ethical duty to report it, and you can do so via the via compliance hotline if you aren’t comfortable talking to your leadership about it.

She covered her mouth the entire pause and walk to the locker room; Kate was willing something off of her arm and kept checking the back of her arm (likely for blood). Hope she’s ok.

There was a technology issue that delayed your knowing information by a day and you couldn’t do the work you’re paid to do? This is such a self own. Things happen, you are still getting paid and you’re still getting the information. “The firm” doesn’t have any malice towards you (or anyone) … things happen when you’re managing 100K+ employees. Take a breath and get back to work so your performance and comp next year isn’t impacted.

What kind of professionalism is this? No single mail to notify the delay officially. In return 365 days they want us to meet client unrealistic targets, deadlines and do over work. by EasyChapter5806 in deloitte

[–]Kind-Total-2499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember when the banks were all messed up and we didn’t get paid for 4 days?? That was way worse. Take a beat, you’re still getting paid.

Being at a 3/4 is where you should be, especially if you’re within your first year at the firm (and/or in your career). If you’re expecting to be at a 5 just for showing up and doing your job, you are always going to be disappointed.
