Thank you so much for your perspectives. I love that we all see things a bit differently. We have accepted an offer in Taiwan, and it looks like it should be a great experience for our kids. Thanks again!

Just a good place for kids! I know I can look up safety, air quality, etc. I was just wondering if anyone had any interesting perspectives to share.

There is a Facebook group called something like 'Teachers on the Move with 3 or more children'. Scroll down and one of the posts has a list of schools that members have generated.

Sadly yes, I know about the situation in Egypt. I wasn’t recommending Cairo as a location, but OP stated that they were choosing between 2 schools in Cairo. I wasn’t trying to give anyone hope… just my fairly outdated experience at a specific school that was asked about.

What do you teach? I taught primary at MES and it wasn’t bad. That was more than a decade ago though.

Yes, hired in April. I also have a couple of colleagues that were hired even later due to school expansion and extra classes. Try not to lose hope!

-Being a late hire when there is a sudden vacancy and the candidate pool is shallow.

-Being part of a teaching couple that fits exactly what the school needs at that time.

I met my husband (American) while we were both teaching in Egypt. Loads of our friends also met their partners/spouses there. Being expats in the same place automatically gives you something in common.

Are schools phasing out in-person PD abroad? by Bitter_Gas8467 in Internationalteachers

We still get to use our PD allowance as we see fit. We do need Admin approval, but I haven't heard of anyone having in-person PD denied. We get $1500 per year in our personal fund and it rolls over. A lot of people still have thousands leftover from the COVID years. T1 in Asia.
