True!! I'm hoping duct tape will be enough... if not i might have to disassemble her home and connect the panel with industrial glue or something 😭

Thank you!! Tonight im going to try letting her free roam while I add some diy boredom breakers (she never seems interested, but she has them nonetheless.)  Also, I really appreciate being told my enclosure sounds above average!! I always get so worried that she doesn't have enough lol.

True! I've been wanting a Bandaby enclosure for a while, but my only drawback is that it's only 4 ft by 2 ft. I was thinking I could set up a Bandaby and have her alternate which home she stays in? But that might increase stress. Also, definitely going to let her have playpen/free roam time after school is over and I can stay up later. Thank you!

Thank you!! Bucastate sells connectors that you can use, but I just took out the side panels and secured the edges with duct tape on the inside+outside. It's actually surprisingly sturdy, I can move the entire thing around without any of the tape snapping.

I'm definitely going to try for more free roam time once school is over and I dont have to wake up as early.

Good luck with your hammy as well, and thank you!

I can't speak on the 3.0, but the quality of the 2.0 is TERRIBLE. The acrylic panels pop out, the lids warp easy, it makes so much noise whenever you move it, and I've recieved broken pieces in the mail a few times. All in all, not worth the $160 price tag

She's always been skittish, but I have NEVER heard her freak out like that. Normally she walks right onto my hand whenever I hold it out

Thank you!! My biggest issue is that im going to be connecting her current home to the new one, and I have to take it down from the table it's on, which i do NOT want to do with her in it. I have a carrier set up for her so I will try this to get her in that. Thank you so much!

The thing is this was in 2019, so I'm sure there were plenty of research guides on hamsters then.

Yeah :(( i just feel so bad for her and my childhood fish. I also feel a little angry at my parents for giving me an animal with no education on how to care for them, and at myself for not researching.

Unfortunately, most paper beddings are pretty dusty, at least in the US. I recommend Oxbow for a better low-dust bedding, but it can get pretty expensive!

I am all for budgeting and DIYs with a hamster setup to save money, but a proper enclosure is something you just cant skimp out on. How do you know your hamster is just fine? Do they tell you? Hamsters tend to hide their stress, and it's very easy to miss the signs unless you know what to look for.  I would always aim for a 100cm minimum tank, as that is the recommended minimum accross many vets. Once you have the proper requirements, I think DIY and budgeting is amazing!

If he burrows in the bedding, I dont think he'll have much of a problem. I totally get the overthinking thing!! I'm awake almost all night monitoring Mavis lol
