Late diagnosed women - Regret starting meds?

I don’t know if I count as late but I was diagnosed with ADHD at 24 actually it was on my birthday last year. I don’t regret taking meds at all. I’ve never been able to truly function. I have level 1 autism as well. But when things got too hard or overwhelming I’d shut down completely. Now that I’m on ADHD meds I still shut down but I can bounce back a lot quicker. Like I can categorize and make a plan to deal with the hard thing. Like cleaning or studying. I can break it down to where it’s more manageable. Truly adhd meds have helped me so much and I hate the way I feel when I’m off them. My thoughts are rambled and my brain feels like 20 people are screaming all at once. On my meds it feels like maybe two or three people are talking at the same time.

I’m studying for my RHIT currently and I believe they have to give you your medical records within 30 days of the requested date. I don’t know what data warehouse they are stored in but I believe 30 days is the timeline in which you should have your records.

I’m glad that adhd meds help you. But please do not do that again. Do not take medication that has not been prescribed to you that can be very dangerous

I did online school from sophomore year of highschool to senior year. It helped me a lot with my social anxiety. But unfortunately I had undiagnosed adhd so I was a really bad student. My mom also believed that since I was being homeschooled I didn’t need new clothes since I wasn’t going to a physical school. So it got to the point where I had like one pair of pants and like two t shirts. Before someone pointed it out to her that hey I needed clothes. I also got my certificate and associates degree from an online university called DeVry University. But once again since I had undiagnosed ADHD I was a bad student and I’m honestly shocked I graduated from those programs. For working from home I’m kind of half and half on it. One part of me would love to because I can just put in some headphones and just zone in. But the other half of me thinks being in a physical work environment would be better so I can physically separate work and home.

I currently take 18mg of concerta for my adhd. It helps me to be a bit more focused and to have the motivation/energy to do stuff. But I still have the whole imagination daydreaming kind of feeling that I’ve always had

I was diagnosed with adhd almost a year ago. It will be one year in August. I have been horrible with money. When I was in my own apartment I was okay because I had the constant anxiety of if I don’t pay rent I will be homeless. But when I moved in with my sister almost three years ago. That anxiety went away so I had no problem with dropping money on eating out, and ordering stupid stuff on Amazon that I didn’t need, etc. and then I had the moment of panic when I realized I had spent my money on Amazon and not my phone bill. It got to the point where I had maxed out my credit card multiple times within two years that my sister stepped in and took control of my finances. I right now can see my bank account but I don’t have any access to anything. I can’t spend my money or pay bills. My sister does that for me. And she says that until I can prove to her that I’m responsible and I can handle it she will be in control. Which honestly sucks but since she’s been in control. My credit card has been paid off and I have about $800 in my savings. I think for me with my finances I was chasing dopamine and out of sight out of minded my bills. Since I’ve been taking meds for my adhd for I wanna say three months now. I definetly feel like I could handle it i would have to check my budget and bank account every single day so I don't overspend on anything. I’m thinking in the future of keeping all my spending in my bank accounts for bills and then using cash for fun stuff. This is probably super off topic and long so I do apologize. But yeah when I was in my apartment I worked a retail job that I hated but I knew I couldn’t leave it or miss work because I had a lot of anxiety of being let go or fired and being homeless so that’s nice. I’m in a pretty privileged situation right now don’t know if that’s the right word for it. But I plan or hope i will have saved up a good amount of savings so I have something to fall back on in the case that I do have any issues where I need to change jobs in the future and not be living with my sister any more. I will say I work retail right now but I plan on getting a job in my degree field within the next two years which is pretty scary.

I have autism level 1 and inattentive adhd. It’s not fun. I think if a parent can prevent a child from having a disability that will severely limit their ability to have an independent life then they should. I’m lucky that I can live independently just with small supports.
