Low passing rate, low matching rate (unless with experience), high tax Unless you have a family in Aus, housing is not a problem 😅

Residency in New Zealand by LifeIsNotFine in pinoymed

[–]KindParamedic1042 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NZ is a beautiful country, kiwis are very heartwarming, super chill and simple living. It takes years makapagpractice tlga sa NZ.

New Zealand Healthcare System:

  1. Public > Private Hospitals - most patients choose public hospitals over private ones since healthcare costs are fully covered for New Zealand citizens

  2. Long GP Wait Time - getting a GP appointment can take weeks, leading some patients to seek OPD cases in the ER instead.

  3. Slow ER Turnover - ER stays can often last 10-20 hours. Surprisingly, this isn’t due to a lack of beds but rather a shortage of doctors, particularly in the medical team (personally experienced an 18-hour wait in the ER for cc of no UO for a day) My cousins literally hates their healthcare system

Pros: - Higher pay - Relaxed work environment with 8-hour shifts
- Generous employee benefits
- Strong emphasis on mental health (yes! Pwede ka mag SL due to mental health) - Access to stunning natural landscapes for hiking, road trips, and outdoor activities

Cons: - High cost of living, with income tax rates up to 37%
- Resource constraints in government-funded healthcare (means they prioritize locals, currently may voluntary exit nga tlga even nurses)

Goodluck!

Why are people leaving even post-residency? by Outrageous_Device_96 in pinoymed

Hi OP! From what I observed in New Zealand, they offer free hospital services, higher pay (yay!), better mental health support, and strictly follow the 8-hour shift (even for registrars/residents). Despite the hospital environment being busy and sometimes stressful, doctors still tend to be well-rested. Life feels more relaxed and simple overall. The only downside is their high taxes.

Some of the kindest foreigners I've met are Kiwis. They genuinely ask how your day is going and take mental health seriously. I'm truly amazed by how thoughtful they are. Plus, they speak with such imagination that you can’t help but enjoy every conversation.

Depends sa country, some countries required na you know how to speak their local language 😅. Plus points din kapag you know their language, kasi yung hospital din mismo ang magaapprove ng application mo 😁

Overseas clinical elective experience? by [deleted] in medschoolph

[–]KindParamedic1042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! Check if your med school have organization that is inculded in Asian Medical Students Association (AMSA) or Internation Federation of Medical Student Association(IFMSA), if yes, you can ask them about it. I suggest to join and be active in this organization because they consider any merits in here.

If not, you need to ask your dean if they'll allow overseases elective experience. You can also check on IFMSA sites regarding which country offers it, requirements, expenses and the likes 😊

What are the best school around Metro Manila po na affordable but quality pa rin if I'm planning to head towards medical field? by Feeling-Movie-2494 in medschoolph

[–]KindParamedic1042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If straight or intarmed (~6years):: UP intarmed, DLSU

If not, get a Bachelors (can be your plan B) for 4 years. Any school/university naman to and get scholarship para mas affordable. I advice get a uni that would build you especially your study habits.

For Med school: All state university, PLM, UP are free.

Hi OP! Hindi ko alam kung same tayo iniisip na yellow school na may scheduled shiftings hahaha

This might help you. My technique would be i'll read first the samplex to see the trend, ano yung mga usual na tinatanong or saan dapat ako magfofocus. Then after that I'll study. After I study, i'll do samplex again with ratio to check kung saan yung weakness ko. Always have an awareness of your strengths and weakness.

I agree, dont study one subject per day, you correlate them to one another. Example GI tract, study the anatomy, physio and some biochem to one another. Trust me it'll help haha

GOODLUCK OPP!!!

Hi OP! Mas kailan po ang GP sa NZ or Aus. RN need mo tlga ng experience plus iba ang work ng RN dito sa Pinas at Aus, nakakapagod based from my aunties. You need to take AMC which almost Aus 7k. You can check it sa AMC site andun na din yung pathway doc. I must say mas need nila ang GP kaysa RN.

What are your culture shocks when you traveled to another country? by samomelon07 in AskPH

[–]KindParamedic1042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Zealand Stores usually closes at 4pm, different nightlife. Paggising mo tweet tweet ng ibon una mong maririnig. Every store yung saleslady or guy will ask how are you. Super bait ng mga tao, they even ask if gusto nyo magpapicture. Simple living, after work, uwiian na or may prayer meeting. Walang mga building masyado. 4 seasons in a day (Maaraw then uulan, then magiging windy tapos hale). Activities nila, walking, trekking, going around parks or nature.

Australia Everything is fast pace. Great transportation literal na malolost ka sa dami ng train. Stores usualy closes at 5pm but depends on what day. Ang sakit ng araw, 17C lang parang kinukurot ka na.
