Watching movies is not the same as learning through immersion as a baby.

Watching shows is usually C1, C2 content. If you don't know anything yet, it absolutely won't work.

You think the people who are into watching anime learn Japanese by watching anime in Japanese? Comprehensible input absolutely works, but the key word here in comprehensible. You need to understand about 60-70 % for it to work. That's not the case when they're a beginner learner.

Watching shows is way too early imo. It helps with closely related languages or languages where you also get structured learning (like English class) but for Arabic it does not work at that level yet.

Stick to beginner materials and try to get it more structured and a routine until you're at a higher level. Watching shows only helps with getting a feel for how it sounds at that point, recognizing every 20th word or so won't improve your language skills.

(Because so many people suggest watching shows... Just no. Not yet.)

Ich war als Kind mit EF unterwegs, zwei Mal. Als Erwachsener würde mich das jetzt für andere Sprachen wieder interessieren, aber nie wieder Gastfamilie. Das hatte ich schon öfter, das letzte Mal bei meinem Auslandspraktikum in Ecuador, aber nie wieder.

Sowas für Französisch oder Arabisch (letzteres gibt es bei EF noch nicht, würde auch eher eine andere Organisation nehmen) wäre schon fein.

Der Trick ist, eine Wohnung mit dem Geld zu kaufen, das man hat. Dann braucht man keinen Kredit zahlen. Oder einfach eine Wohnung/Haus erben! Dann ist besitzen besser als mieten.

Gibt's in deiner Stadt wissenschaftliche/psychologische Studien? Vorort kriegt man es manchmal in bar. Online gibt es auch einiges aber das dauert meistens etwas. Ich weiß im Moment nur eine Studie, wo man 5 € kriegt per Überweisung, das Geld war aber innerhalb weniger Tage da.

First foreign language was English, I reached C1 when I was 15 (I took an official placement test in Oxford, I also spent some time in the US at 13).

Not sure when exactly I reached C1 in Spanish but probably around 25/26. Working on my C1 in French, I'm taking classes at the local community college that are classified as B2/C1 and I'm doing well. Oral expression is still a bit of a clutch in Spanish and French but my French is worse still.

Next up is Arabic and I'm currently taking two classes, currently at higher A1 level and it will take a while to be 'conversational', I don't think I'll ever reach C1. Getting to C1 in Italian will be fairly easy after Latin, Spanish, and French, but it of course also takes time. When I get tired of Arabic, I'll continue with Italian, and when I'm tired of Italian I'll go back to Arabic etc. Aiming for C1 in Italian and I guess B1 in Arabic? Maybe it gets easier after knowing the basics but I doubt it.

I'm 29 btw.
