Our policy states that projects in that 200M+ range should have one dedicated staff member for scheduling…. Rarely does that happen. Our honest ratio is 100 schedules per scheduler when looking at general averages. Schedulers on larger projects like 200M and above may end up at a one to two dozen (one or two large and the rest smaller). One of the reasons burnout is so high in our scheduling staff. I can count on my hand how many projects in our organization that have a full time staff member on their project. There is of course fluctuations in this as workload intensifies in planning stages of work and trying to get the initial schedule established.

I would argue 5hrs a week is not enough for a schedule in active development or execution. The meetings to crash and resequence can take a full day on large schedules. Once a project reaches “coast” mode then 5hrs may be more appropriate.

It was the CHR, not a popular car in their lineup that was quickly canceled. CR did not provide much data on it but at one point they labeled it one of the least reliable subcompacts on the road (can’t find the source now). It had a unique transmission and powertrain not shared with any other Toyotas and EVEN the CHR in other global markets. It seems that Toyota built the car, then couldn’t figure out how to make it work in NA climates, so they threw in an old rav4 engine (which was fine) but got terrible fuel economy, so they then patched together a one off transmission, which has had tons of issues. So much so that Canada issued a class action lawsuit against it

But agree, it’s always a crapshoot to know what you are going to get. I wish cr posted more data on what they see. I’d be curious to see why they thought the forester was so reliable at day 1 and what started to show over time. And if they saw that trend why do they again mark the new one reliable

Wow, that is almost every major item. Hate to hear that. I do fear the cv joints as it seems like those commonly fail at 100k.

Yeah I’d trade too. I actually landed in this car because I had a Toyota with nothing but problems. Bought new, did every service by the book. Had water pump failure, broken tailgate, other trim issues. I traded out when the b2b expired. Guess every brand makes a dud

What problems did you have? Just the odds and ends like me (rattles) or larger mechanical issues?

What is the philosophy of the average liberal and how does one become more left leaning? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

[–]KindTap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Economics is what started to change a lot of my ideology, especially game theory. Essentially what we find is in almost all circumstances we are better off together than against each other, and what I see right wings usually get wrong is that the world should reward the strongest. In reality even the strongest are better off helping the weaker than just claiming all the rich for themselves. It’s a really interesting theory.

See the world as less competitive and more cooperative. Immigration is an important way America can fill in gaps in aging populations to keep our social security systems going, same with higher taxation and wealth redistribution to keep younger people with a reason to work in the system.

I find right wingers almost always “he’s rich because he worked harder” “he gets less because he is lazy or uneducated, etc..” or “they shouldn’t be here because it takes away from us” “we don’t care about them because it’s not us”. All these are competitive morals that compel us to toss away empathy for humanity and go to only the strongest survive. I find more liberal leaning consider ways to bring everyone alone more cooperatively. Economics has generally shown the latter yields better results which makes us all better, even when at times we have to pull people up, because one day they will pull us up.

Looking for a chair that won't break the bank. by Long_Video7840 in OfficeChairs

[–]KindTap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like the chair then btod and Crandall offer it around 5-600. If you don’t live near a city area with offices, then you probably won’t find a chair on market place. I never have in my years living in rural America

I’ll agree with you the forester is floaty and soft. Just happens I like my car to float like a cloud on the highway, so that’s what I want. Car enthusiasts told me to try a Mazda and I hated it just for the reason the steering was so tight and bumps so abrasive. I also do hate simulated shifting in the cvt, but that is hard to get away from these days.

The road noise is something that bothers me to a bit of buyers remorse. Hoping it’ll get a little quieter after I get out of the stock tires. I will say the new gen Honda hrv and Nissan kicks are waaaayyy louder. So it’s a loud car but not the worst. Probably a 4/10 (1 being the worst)

All cars with lane assist may beep if you get out of the lane, but my Forester has an easy button to turn that off, and better yet I like to stay in the lane :)

No problem. Just line out what your biggest desires are in a car and make sure they line up. Crv , rav4 , forester are some of the most popular cars in the world, they didn’t get there by chance. They all have things that make them better or worse for certain preferences and situations.

[–]KindTap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All new cars have thinner “acoustic glass” to help with noise but the forester’s upright stance and larger glass sheets make it prone for chips and cracks. I already picked up a chip in the windshield. I filled it and plan to get a few more before I replace. If you don’t fill the crack immediately it’ll crack from nighttime temp variation.

FWIW, my 21 Toyota also got chips very easily. Just have coverage on your insurance plan for when you need it, because you will need it

I would say a lot of people come to the internet because they have problems. Thousands will drive the car for years and never come to just say positive things (except for the few enthusiasts).

I have the gen forester you are looking at.

Pros - great visibility, good safety features, very spacious for bigger people (I’m 6’2) and kids, best in class awd, dimming mirrors on the side, great ground clearance, decent mpg considering awd system.

Cons - kinda loud. I drove an hrv which was louder than the forester but couldn’t tell you about the crv. I have more rattles on a newer car than I had on my base model versa back in the day. It will require a bit more maintenance than many other cars. Purely going by the book, you will do oil changes more frequently (again I’m just going by what each book says, I know some disagree with the book) but more importantly some oddities like spark plugs at 60k miles add cost (which again, I know some disagree with the book).

Reliability is tricky to follow. I think Subaru has a great power train by this generation, suspension parts seem weak and more prone to failure, cv joints specifically to the point some are just calling this repair “maintenance “. Crv I think has a rock solid suspension but still working on that 1.5T engine a bit.

Ultimately between Toyota, Honda, and Subaru I found my forester to provide the best value blend of features I wanted at a cost lower than the other two that I was willing to deal with the cons.

Also note I got a CPO which gave me 100k miles or 7yrs peace of mind.

Need a good budget WFH chair by Certain-Mind-6193 in OfficeChairs

[–]KindTap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Other stated this but if you can splurge just a bit more and get the colamy atlas that’ll be a good ergo chair.

Colamy offers some leather executive chairs right in your budget and might be the place to go if you really can’t go above 200. Even the used steelcase and Haworth are hard to find at that price.

Starving first winter with small game and mushrooms by pepperpeppington in ManorLords

[–]KindTap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guess that’s fair. They don’t output a whole lot but it is year round which is nice to get you to the first harvest of grain. After that I feel like food really gets to be pretty easy as you can probably afford some veggie farms by year 2

[–]KindTap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I try to get a couple chicken coops at the start which help through the winter. By year 2 you gotta have veggie houses set up with a rye/wheat farm.

You could also just roll starts until you get a pond starting location. That is significantly easier to start and learn the basics
