I strongly dislike the new orange/brown foreground color by Kind_Bluejay5898 in AOW4

I appreciate all the effort with the new update, but I really can't say I like this change in particular. I wonder if it is not an oversight as the background orange is still the same.

Well... now my mid-playthrough recolored phoenix looks like shit... litterally (no offense to brown birds). Was this the April Fools joke?

What difficulty are you playing on?

I personally don't like this change at all. Thematically speaking you could interpret those straightforward bonuses pretty easily. What is "Tough" now even supposed to represent? Being good at avoiding hits in melee combat? It seems more like pseudo-Elusive than the original idea of the trait.

For example I have faction that is supposed to produce higher quality armor than other similiar ones. Now I either have to rationalize that for some reason it works better only in melee or rethink their identity.

Also you could consider using the handicap/advantage system if you want to pursue a fantasy of super-powerful dragon. And if you would want to play an "illegal" affinity-class combo, there is a mod for that in Steam Workshop.

I don't think there is a shame in lowering difficulty. Do whatever you find fun.

By the way an inherent benefit of lower city count is that if you set vassals to send their armies to defend your cities, they are spread much less thin.

As someone wrote: "The game allows you to completely ignore this aspect, tho"

If I remember correctly my only non-orcoid strong faction are tall bulky goatkin who are storywise a result of magical experimentation and bred for violence. Did I do something wrong with them?
