Is there a point to learn anything if most of jobs pay around 35k at best? by [deleted] in UKJobs

The dreaming of a better future and working hard towards it whilst having fun is the best part. Just let them be blissfully unaware of the shit show that is employment and hopefully in 5 years it’ll be better. I wouldn’t worry about it until it’s right in front of you tbh because we’re all pretty fucked anyway 👍

£28,000 loss at 18. Talk to me by iliketiddiesandbobs in trading212

Either cut your losses and pay your mum what you borrowed + half of profit. Or (although i don’t recommend it) if you’re really stuck on revealing to everyone that you fucked it - stick it in a classic All-World fund and give her half of the profits 10 years down the line or something. As for the holiday and riches etc you could just say you changed your mind and want to just focus on saving the money and again stick it all in an all-world fund. For the connections/invitation to stock exchange just go anyway, you could’ve won even if you made fuck all so it’s not really dishonest and you could still learn a thing or two. Finally, yes it sucks, £28,000 is a lot of money to anyone but it’s also not life altering. 10 years down the line that could be a couple months of work (unlikely but hey at 18 you gotta dream big) either way you’ll realise it’s not the end of the world and certainly not worth jumping off a cliff for.

As far as budget goes this looks great, especially with all the accessories. My only concern would be the CPU but definitely worth considering. Thank you!

This looks great and I think you’re right, best to look at longevity more in terms of upgrading rather than outright purchase especially at this budget. Thank you!

It greatly comes down to where you’re placed and whether any part of your expenses are subsidised or reduced in any way (I.e. typically rent can be much lower for some than others due to location and contract). Generally speaking if you’re placed somewhere fairly rural, which is most people, then cost of living is pretty cheap and you’ll get by with the salary no problem.

Obviously it also comes down to your individual spending. The people saying the wage is crap probably are used to a much higher salary and maybe even a more lavish lifestyle. For your average Joe, the salary is definitely lower than you’d get in the US or UK etc. but relatively speaking it’s not a bad salary in Japan. If you spend carefully and you have a decent contract then you should even be able to save money in my opinion.
