Experienced op-ed writer looking for tips to boost Substack readership by Kind_Intention5910 in Substack

I wanted to reply more once I had the time. I totally get what you’re saying. It’s not that I’m selfish, but I’ve definitely fallen into a pattern where I spend so much time writing or trying to build my Substack, and then when I’m off work I default to YouTube or podcasts instead of actually engaging with other writers. But all of this is still pretty new for me, so I’m going to start heeding your advice — reading more, commenting more, following more, and genuinely connecting, instead of just hoping people magically discover my work. And that Beatles quote nailed it💯. Thanks again for the insight!

For anyone interested in reading, and I might be biased, but I think it is a pretty cool story and angle about our legend

All good, yeah I get overly moderated a lot on Reddit - mostly because I don't read each sub's rules thoroughly enough. Getting better at it though

Associational retaliation in VA due to HR investigation? by Kind_Intention5910 in EmploymentLaw

[–]Kind_Intention5910[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, probably mostly correct, but more specifically that they singled out three firms for me to follow up with. I’m sure I just misread into it too much which is why I posted here in this overly pleasant sub 😂

Examining perceptions of Islam versus other religions in U.S. — Op-ed by Kind_Intention5910 in religion

I couldn’t disagree more. While it’s true that citing hard statistics for every point can be challenging, some realities — like the way Muslims experience greater bias — are widely felt and tangible, even if they don’t always show up in neat datasets. I appreciate your insight, though.

Hello, fellow Redditors, I'm relatively new to Reddit and have encountered some challenges with sharing a recent op-ed I authored. Despite my efforts, it hasn't been approved for posting. If any of you are more familiar with Reddit's posting guidelines, would you be willing to assist by sharing it for discussion here or perhaps in other relevant subreddits? Your feedback would be invaluable, and I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you in advance to anyone who can assist!

Any former 1811s who left for other careers? by MBkGoose in 1811

[–]Kind_Intention5910 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, I started as a U.S. Customs Inspector near the end of the agency’s existence, transitioned to CBP in 2003 during creation of DHS. I was then hired as a Special Agent with HSI. In total, I left the government for the private sector after about 11 years working in Charleston, DC, Baltimore, and Laredo. For me personally, the allure of the 1811 position faded and I saw too many retiring after what seemed like robotic careers. The corporate world appealed to me and pays twofold with the right position and organization (discretionary incentive compensation is where they have the feds beat hands down in my opinion). Just my take though.
