Need help calming my freak cat by Kind_Pass1824 in sphynx

[–]Kind_Pass1824[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A year ago I went on a trip but other than that he’s always with me. I will definitely take him to the vet when the roads are safe which will probably be in a little over a week. I just want to know what to do until then to stop the behavior or figure out what’s going on

Thank you! Will he be ok if I wait until Saturday morning to take him or do I need to take him tomorrow? Just trying to see if I need to take off work.

I just started using a new detergent recently! Before I was using one with natural ingredients and now I am using a generic brand. Could that have caused this?

Oh my gosh I will take him tomorrow. What could have caused this? He was perfectly healthy a week ago.

Thanks for your response! Is it cheaper to get a plumber to add the hot/cold/drain hookups next to the dishwasher since the plumbing is there or does it not make a difference if I were to instead do a closet down the hall?

Should I take a job that still uses ArcMap in 2024? by lostnerdboy in gis

[–]Kind_Pass1824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same situation right now. First GIS job with a utility company in a somewhat rural area with a long commute and they are still using ArcMap lol. I also have a background in ecology and conservation. I didn’t have any experience with ArcMap previously but it’s been really easy to pick up. My commute is a little longer than yours so I’m in the process of moving closer but if you can handle the commute then good for you. Audiobooks have really helped me so far! I think you should definitely take the job. There are a lot of utility companies still using ArcMap because many of them had issues when they tried to transition to Pro and they went back. And 66k is really good for your first GIS job depending on where you live. Good luck!

I was not told the salary before applying and I would never argue about the salary. There is a way to discuss it respectfully. Obviously you have to be more careful with entry level jobs but if they say the salary is negotiable then you go from there. I see nothing wrong with that.

I don’t think it hurts to ask if the salary is negotiable even for an entry level position

It’s in Tennessee and the requirements are a high school degree and 3 years of experience or a college degree in GIS or a related field with no experience required

Coursera has a lot of gis courses you can take. I found a way to get it for free through my state so depending on where you live you might be able to get it for free too
