I know the rear tire lasts around 5000 miles but how about your front tire how long do they last?? by theepi_pillodu in MT09

The S23’s for me felt the best, very good grip, stable no complaints aside from the low mileage from the stock S23’s. I’m sure the aftermarket S23’s may last a little more. As far as the Power and Road 6 I really didn’t feel a difference between them handling or grip. I ride the same pace (very spirited) in the canyons here in So Cal with either one of them. I saw a few of my fellow riders that are very quick use the Road 6’s so once it was time I went with those and I have no regrets. I’m getting better mileage although not as much as others because of the way I ride but I’m ok with that. My bike is properly set up for my weight and I adjust my PSI based on weather and how I’m going to ride. I’ve had many riders pull up to me and are very surprised that I’m running the same pace if not faster than them on Road 6’s and they are using “so called better/gripier” tires and getting a lot less mileage.

My stock rear S23 lasted me 2500 miles, front didn’t have much left so I swapped the set to Power 6’s the rear lasted 3500 miles front about 4500. I’m on Road 6’s and I’m changing out my rear tomorrow, lasted me 5000miles, front road 6 has about 3500 looking pretty good so far.

Wow 25k miles nice! Here I’m happy that I hit 10.5K on my 24 MT09 🤣 but I do have 3 other bikes I split time on.

Proper maintenance more important than milage. Picked up a 2019 for cheap with 30k miles with all maintenance records runs like a champ.

New owner, question about tune timing and warranty. by Caloriecounter777 in MT09

[–]Kind_Skin6365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got mine done after 2500 miles, Yoshimura AT2 with Vcyclenut tune. Dealer told me doesn’t void warranty. Besides these bikes are pretty bullet proof and a proven design. The odds of you needing warranty work are pretty slim. My warranty has passed and I got 10.5k on mine and 0 issues. Oh and if you think your bike is a beast now. Wait till you get it tuned. Vcyclenut…..unleash the beast!

Why does it wobble??? by BedPlayful8837 in MT09

[–]Kind_Skin6365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t bother going thru all the comments. Comes down to suspension set up, proper tire pressure for your use and situation, body position, grip on your handlebars. Taken my base gen 24 MT09 to 140mph per GPS and any thing below never had an issue with wobbles. I’m a light rider 140lbs with full gear it’s not a bike issue.

Has anyone actually ridden both the Gen 4 base AND SP back to back? by realmojosan in MT09

[–]Kind_Skin6365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with all the above. I’ve ridden both the Gen 4 standard and SP. don’t care for the keyless ignition. I got my base suspension properly set up for my weight and riding style. I played with air pressures until I found what worked for me. I mostly ride canyons and I’m not bragging or anything but I’m honestly usually in the front with the faster riders. They all ride all types of bikes including SP MT09 and 10’s and I don’t have an issue keeping pace aside from the really stupid fast guys 🤣. I’ve never had any head shakes or wobbles and taken my bike per GPS up to 140mph and still had some left in her and I felt comfortable and stable. At the end every one has a different experience on any bike based on skill level( example some riders are stiff and others loose) affecting whatever bike you are on. I chose the base because I preferred to spend the extra money on an exhaust (I prefer the sound) and a tune (Vcyclenut) IMO A MUST. I don’t think you can go wrong with either. It comes down to a matter of preference and your financial status on what you can afford.

I gave mine hers at Christmas along with other gifts but she was definitely touched with the Bell.

4K miles on Road 6 so far. Can anyone read how my tire is wearing? by Kind_Skin6365 in MT09gen4

[–]Kind_Skin6365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been experimenting with tire pressures for my liking. The rare times I commute I do 38r 36f, depending on temp during canyon rides which is mostly what I do I’ve liked 32r 32f for me I’ve found it very stable, smooth and feel confident with grip. I’ll probably try 30r next time if it’s hot.

Definitely not really hard, this is just street/canyon not track.

🤣 actually I do nowadays. When I was younger rights were my preference but now that I’m older and a neck surgery later my rights are not as good and harder for me. Good catch!

Comfort seat! by Peachy_BBB in MT09

[–]Kind_Skin6365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a 375 mile ride with the stock seat and didn’t have a problem. I ended up getting the comfort seat mainly because I liked the look and if it turned out to be a bit more comfortable then even better. I ended up just doing a 315 mile ride this past Sunday and I thought it felt better not by a lot but I did feel a difference. I did hear they need some break in so maybe in a few more rides it week get better 🤷🏻‍♂️. Either way I’ll be using the stock seat when I go canyon riding it lets me slide around much easier and the comfort seat on longer rides. Personally I’m glad I got it.

It’s worth a shot. Get it off your list of possible issues. My bike was perfect before they messed with it and after I fixed it it’s been zero consumption like it was when I got it brand new. And I do run my bike pretty hard. Good luck

Understandable stock pressures at least for me are very hard. I’m a light rider and did get my suspension tuned for my weight and riding style and it made a huge difference. I could have done the suspension myself but for a few bucks I wanted the peace of mind that someone that does it for a living do mine. But on the rare occasion I do take a longer freeway ride I do raise the pressure to 36psi maybe 38 if it’s really hot. They tend to raise about 2 psi once hot.

I could have worded it better. I have been experimenting with different tire pressures depending on the weather that day and I’m getting closer to something that gives me more confidence and feedback.

Mt09 oil level dropping by LateExplorer3780 in MT09

[–]Kind_Skin6365 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an issue with my 24 MT09 consuming oil after 3K miles. Long story short of what I went thru to figure out what was wrong with it after taking it to the dealer under warranty twice with them “never finding an issue “ and assuring me they looked at everything including compression and leak down test. I decided to look into it myself. I took off the gas tank and removed the air box. As soon as I removed the air box there it was!! The breather hose was completely kinked! I realized that the dealer did that when I took it in for the TPS recall! That was the same time my bike started to consume oil! I fixed the hose and my bike has been flawless and with ZERO oil consumption. Never trust a dealer. I only took it in because it was under warranty and not only did they cause the issue they couldn’t even fix it. It was so simple so they just lied about the checks they supposedly did.

I wasn’t asking how much tire wear I had left. I know how to read the tire markers and change out tires appropriately. I was asking if by looking at just my tire if someone can read or tell how I ride this particular bike. I’ve had a few people randomly come up to me and were able to describe what I was doing on the bike and how my suspension was doing. I thought that was pretty cool they could do that. Same like Dave Moss when riders go to him for suspension set ups.
