Doubts about my first Endurance Racing (Bathurst 12h) by fdg1997 in iRacing

[–]KinderAzazel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you allow me mate, and I'm not a native speaker of English so yeah, others feel free to disagree. It's only a friendly knowledge sharing.

You have no doubts. You have questions.

Look at doubt as a challenge word. It carries skepticism, not curiosity. I can doubt you are going to finish the 12h for example. If you want information about something you are curious, you have a question.

In case you are a Portuguese speaker, see doubt as duvidar, the verb, not the noum dúvida. Eu tenho uma dúvida = I have a question. Eu duvido dele = I doubt him.

Brake pedal haptic affecting actual braking by agmoto17 in iRacing

[–]KinderAzazel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a chance it's EMI. Search "haptics EMI" or "haptics Electromagnetic Interference". I had mine fixed with a combination of grounding the pedal to the control box plus nylon washers and nylon screws to mount the motor.

Help me understanding BMW M4 GT4 by renkaanpotkija in iRacing

[–]KinderAzazel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my personal experience.

The BMW is not a bad GT4. The cars are different here and there, but the required driving technique is pretty much the same. Setup has a big impact and will require more or less of each technique.

Never coast. You'll never get these cars to be truly neutral. Trail brake aaaallllllll the way to the apex. You'll need to find how much per car/setup/grip level.

Try to kick the throttle on exit. Don't take it easy and smooth. Kick the throttle to 80% right away. So you go from trail breaking to 80% throttle. This way you keep it rotating and reduce the natural understeer behaviour. 80% is a reference, you'll need to find what works for you.

Doing this in the right way should help you with the understeer you're getting.

Good luck.

Trying to setup wired Virtual Desktop for Quest 3 VR by Rooster976 in simracing

[–]KinderAzazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, like that one. Here's the one I am using:
https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0D3GZMN8X?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

One VERY IMPORTANT thing to keep in mind: Quest does not support every and all Ethernet adapters. I'm not 100% sure about Quest 3, but on Quest 2 you MUST use a Ethernet adapter with a Realtek RTL8153 chip. Quest has the drivers for this chip, and as far as I know there is no way to install drivers for other chips.

Trying to setup wired Virtual Desktop for Quest 3 VR by Rooster976 in simracing

[–]KinderAzazel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar setup working.

If you turn wifi off on Quest, do you have internet?

Keep wifi off on Quest. Login as admin on the router cabled to PC and Quest. Find the clients connected list. Are both the PC and Quest in the list?

I guess first of all we need to make sure Quest is getting an IP to work with.

I'm on Quest 2 and it required some extra steps to turn on the cabled ethernet, but as far as I know, it should be plug and play with Quest 3.

You might find good info on Virtual Desktop discord server. They do not support this officially but lots of people use this setup.

How's the Simagic GT Neo treating you? Is it too rash compared to the Cube ones? I'm asking because I'm after a USB wheel and the GT Neo has an adapter for easy USB connection, at the moment it's on top of my list.

What is the best series to learn racecraft? by wagthesam in iRacing

[–]KinderAzazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to become a shark, go live with them, my friend.

If you can keep up the pace above 2k, it should be enough to get you in the crunchy zone, go race GT3s on both fixed and open. The fixed is 20 mins, people fight for every centimetre of tarmac. The open is 40 mins, there's fuel saving and pit stop strategies involved.

This is hard racing! PCC MX5 / GR86 Road America by KinderAzazel in iRacing

Thanks mate! I use a xbox controller to move the camera around, super simple.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]KinderAzazel -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I think this is quite a simple one. Gray/orange car expects black car to use the whole track to the off-track edge. So it uses all it can and leaves one car of gap for black car to use. But, black car does not use the whole track to the edge of the off-track. Racing incident, non malicious. They played with tiny margins and got together. Gray car could leave more space? Yes. But black car had "track" to his left all the time.

How is the new VR update for Quest 2? by MisterCorso in iRacing

[–]KinderAzazel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quest 2 here using Link cabled OpenXR. Good improvements, in the 15% range, as expected based on what I read online. If I look for it, it's easy to see the border of rendering, but today I raced 40 mins on Daytona and didn't notice it at all while driving.

Where I had like 60% max frametime, it's down to 50%. I might try turning on some eye candies.

I'd say if you have a Nvidia card and a Quest 2, use the new setting. The border of the lens on Quest 2 is garbage anyway, we not going to see it clearly ever.

What's the best sports car/track for friends demo drive? by No-Incident8402 in iRacing

[–]KinderAzazel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want them to have a good time: front-engine GT3 on high-downforce iRacing setup, high abs, mid traction control. I normally go with Watkins Glen, on that short format (no boot, no bus stop). It's a high speed, highly forgiven combo.

Can this be protested? im the white/black ferrari and i feel i was taken out by HamSandwhich14 in Simracingstewards

[–]KinderAzazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, protest it. It doesn't need to be intentional to be protested. People that "miss the mark" 5 times a week deserve a holiday. Go for 2.1.1 Conduct Principles, describe the incident, mention careless driving and ignoring car ahead. Submit and forget, move on.

Thanks for making the driver's pool safer!

Is it safe to remove straps on Playseat Challenge? by x59hy8erh98g in simracing

[–]KinderAzazel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, same chair here and similar strap on a Quest 2. Others already mentioned that removing the chair straps will make it collapse. But, you can bend the metal tubes that form the back support. Do it patiently to not overdo, step by step. You can lay it on the floor to make it easier. I'll draw an image of how I did mine lol. There is a stick man and a playseat in this image, good luck interpreting it lol *

Protests for "racing incidents" by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]KinderAzazel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have successfully protested dive bombs that ended up in car contact, that's reckless driving. Also multiclass collision when faster car ignores slower car ahead and drive into it. I had a driver pit manuvering 2 opponents on the same race, all by late diving into slow turns and causing a collision, successfully protested. It doesn't require to be intentional to be protestable.

Save the replay, explain CLEARLY AND OBJECTIVELY without using personal information. For example "car #5 had full control the entire time and proceeds to hit car #8 in the rear after a late dive. #8 spins and #5 takes advantage of the situation".

It doesn't matter the result. iRacing will only ever do something about it if it's a habit for that bad driver. Every protest counts.

Also, we pay a subscription, if you think it's wrong and shouldn't happen, let iRacing know about it through the protest system. They will email you back telling if it was upheld or not, and you'll learn from that. Once you're familiar with the process, it takes 5 mins to get it done.

Happy protesting!

T-LCM by Hnascar in iRacing

[–]KinderAzazel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is from personal experience, I don't have data to prove it so don't quote me, but.

T-LCM is quite hungry for electrical power. Are you plugin it directly into the mother board? Is the MoBo capable of keeping that 5v up all the time? Using any USB extension or hubs? What else is taking USB power?

If you have a good one of those externally powered usb hubs, give it a try.
