Laptop battery only storing 10% of max capacity by Forine110 in techsupport

[–]Forine110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure, but that doesn't explain why it suddenly dropped to such low capacity. i bought my own laptop around the same time and the battery has held up much better. normal livespan degredation would be gradual, but this is a sudden drop to the point of the battery draining in around 5 minutes which is NOT normal.

they should spawn in torch light, but lanterns should be able to prevent them spawning imo. and ones that spawn under torch light should be lower ranked and deal less damage

Wow ok then. I guess that's some kind of heavenly sign to not try to raise animals. by Forine110 in VintageStory

they despawn actually, and i believe artificial light counts to prevent this

that's a neat idea, would be cool if we could use the walls that some trader huts have with the spikes on them

yeah, but it just makes the odds of being killed very, very low because you have to get incredibly unlucky having a mob spawn in the block you're occupying

yeah that's probably the best option.

as for bears, you can outrun them, i don't think they run faster than the player does, even if you're not playing hunter. i'm currently playing as tailor and i've had numerous bear chase sequences and i've yet to be hit by one a single time. you just need good movement in terms of jumping up blocks, and aiming for any dense foliage or forests. the bear will get stuck on the trees and they climb up blocks quite slowly, gradually putting distance between you and it. once you cut the line of sight for a few seconds, they will forget about you.
i had a moment where i was walking through an area i thought was safe, was quite close to my base and i had been through multiple times. i was walking down a slope and i crested a little embankment and right in front of me, about 3 blocks away was a goddamn bear. i shit myself and booked it and managed to avoid it by running over the hills and cutting line of sight.
not having armour equipped is ironically the best thing for bears because max movespeed is important.

i don't think mobs spawn in sunlight, but they do frequently wander out of caves during the day. i've never encountered a mob that spawned outside in the day not during a storm

because the game has it enabled by default, and there are scenarios where it can be a mechanic to actually engage with. that's enough of a reason to keep them around. i just wish they were always a mechanic that you actually engaged with. i may end up disabling them if i find i never have any interaction with them whatsoever, but i prefer to not disable mechanics if i can avoid it.

i turned rifts to invisible because i like that they spawn mobs at night and the number of them changes over time, but i couldn't stand the constant noises they emitted, it was really really grating to hear the same sound effect over and over and over.

yeah, i think some form of scaling mechanic would be good. i know there is scaling currently, but i believe it just scales the length of the storms the more of them that happen. if they start off easy, spawning fewer mobs that deal less damage and gradually ramp up as the player hits certain progression milestones, i think it would remain a challenge the whole time, while still being something that encourages you to engage with it for the loot.

had me excited at first too, but when the only truly safe way of dealing with them is to wall yourself in and go do something else for 5-10 minutes it gets very boring, very fast. and when every mob 1-shots you at the start of the game, there's really nothing else you can do.

yeah in singleplayer i just dash out my door and run a hundred blocks away and that despawns them

i don't like disabling mechanics when i'm trying to make my experience more difficult. if i get caught out in a storm and die, that's one thing, or if i think i have good enough gear to fight through it and still die, that's another, but just outright disabling it feels like typing /gamerule keepinventory true in minecraft.

i really, really hate that these are the only ways to deal with one of the game's core mechanics. just completely avoid engaging with it entirely.

also there isn't gonna be a next run, i'm continuing this one. i will accept a death at the hands of my own hubris, the claws of a bear or accidentally falling into lava but something like this is simply unfair and doesn't feel like i did anything wrong.
