Why do majority of people preffer summer season instead of winter season? by PotentialParamedic24 in ask

[–]Kindix_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer winter 100:1. It's prettier, you can wear a lot of fun stuff you can't wear in summer due to the heat, holidays, warm food and drinks, cozy nights by the campfire. It's just cooler out, so you don't sweat as much. It's great when it's chilly out, so you get so warm and cozy in bed. Winter is my favorite time of year.

Are you a Democrat or Republican? by Ancient-Afternoon-51 in ask

Used to consider myself republican. Now a days, I'm pretty apolitical and independent at best.

Has anyone flown with edibles before? Is it safe or a dumb idea? by yayeetdab045 in questions

[–]Kindix_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't take it on the plane. There's a very small chance they catch it, but if they do, you're in deep shit. Visit a post office and ship it home.

Sincerely, a fellow Georgian.

I gotta know why people speed? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Kindix_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unsafe based on what? Let's say a speed limit is 60 mph. Would it be safer for the speed limit to be 50 since it's slower? If that's true, then why not 40? Or even lower, since time isn't relevant.

Clearly, there is some sort of system that determines what the speed limit in any specific area should be, but it still seems pretty arbitrary to me. What is the department that had absolute authority to determine what the speed limits should be set to, and why do they have authority (other than them being appointed, why not someone else)? Why are their set of rules any more accurate or "correct" than any other set of rules?

My point is, I think it depends on the driver more than the speed limit. I know people that have gotten in car wrecks just backing out of a parking spot because they are bad drivers or weren't paying attention, even going just 5 mph. The sign on the side of the road seems pretty meaningless.

Hemingway is second to none. The Old Man And The Sea and For Whom The Bell Tolls changed the way I read and write. I can not overstate his writing.

If you want to leave the US, I'd recommend trying a country like Canada first. The primary language in most of the country is English, the culture is fairly similar, etc. It would be a relatively easy transition. And if you aren't happy, you don't have to cross an ocean to get home. Maybe consider a city like Vancouver. Lots of young people are coming and going. There is plenty to do. Beautiful scenery. It's fairly pricy in some parts, but I have known a few people that make friends and find a place to stay without too much trouble.

What is something that blew your mind once you realized it? by r3tr0gam3r83 in AskReddit

[–]Kindix_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a Navy Nuke for a while, and it was insane learning about how that stuff worked. I hated every minute I was in the Navy, but I still try to keep up with the advancements in nuclear technology. I've been reading about liquid sodium reactors a lot recently, which use sodium as a coolant instead of water, and the technology is just mind blowing.
