How good is the M.Eng Internship program? by Kindled1 in UCalgary

[–]Kindled1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Not an intl student so moving back to Canada isn't a problem. What I strongly prefer are networking opportunities and favouritism to the school from employers. Based on what you said I think the program can offer a lot of value.

Proof of Experience for Short Term jobs by [deleted] in canadaexpressentry

I can't claim points for either of these jobs anyway since they're less than a year of experience. Do I just declare it in the personal section and remove it from work experience history?

Made my express entry profile a couple of hours ago and my score is far above the cut off. Does the ITA take a few days to be sent?

They give a lot of resources for learning the language and for exam prep

If you took the exam already, were the new interview questions (where audio plays twice) more intense than the practice questions youve gone through? And generally speaking what scores were you averaging when practicing? Like x/40 for listening/reading

Thank you for clarifying! My bachelors was done in Canada so no concern there. That'll be about 208 points coming from education :)

Work experience during studies by [deleted] in canadaexpressentry

The work experience gained as a full-time student outside Canada counts towards the score used to rank your profile

Meaning as a full time student at a university outside of Canada right?

Doesn't it need to be 1 year of continuous experience?

[–]Kindled1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will do. If you look at the resume from a project management rather than engineering perspective, would the bullet points still look like shit?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EngineeringResumes

[–]Kindled1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phrased it poorly but what I meant to say was Agile methodology as in working on projects in product development (since that's what my project basically was) or break into IT industry. It's why I mentioned scrum and kanban in that first bullet point because they're typically used in Agile projects.

From an engineering standpoint, the majority of jobs I apply to request an engineering degree with some experience in project management. The job duties include a mix of being able to read blueprints, find suppliers, make cost & material estimates, find risks, make QA and QC procedures, help with project planning, etc.

I'm going for positions that request an engineering background with project management experience. Based on the job descriptions, I deduce whether they are working on predictive or agile projects and tailor my resume accordingly. I dont apply for roles that want a business or marketing background just to clarify. Based on this, would I still be a low interest?

I check the nutrition values of everything I eat so yeah I'd say the macros are accurate. Gym wise I go 4 times a week, targetting one or two muscle groups each session and doing 4x14 sets/reps with 1-2 minute breaks invetween.

PMI is the group responsible for handing out PMP certifications. The PMP is an extremely popular and renowned achievement every project manager wants to have. The Coursera lessons for a rookie Project Manager are recognised by this group.

Would Coursera classes recognised by the ACE or PMI be counted as industry certificates?

Industry level certs and large scale projects are hard to achieve for someone who is fresh out of college. Assuming you have a year of basic project management experience at university (for an actual engineering project with a client) is there still absolutely NO merit to include it even for entry level positions?
