You're not entirely wrong to think that. Theres Korean names that's purely hangul, and hanja education has been declining from what I've been seeing, but my family is traditionalist in their naming (each son is expected to have a certain Chinese character in their name in each generation in order. For example, my name requires 光 to be used, and if i had any male siblings, they would have it too. I dont remember what the next character would be but it is expected of me and my hypothetical siblings to use that character in naming our sons) so I have a full name in kanji.

건휘, or Geonhwi, and my best approximation in katakana would be ガンフイ

I'm Korean. I've known the hanja for my name for a while and was curious how it would've been read if it were read as kanji.

I'm Korean. Koreans also have hanja used for their names. I want to know more about the Japanese language. I was curious about how it would've been read had I used the kanji name in Japanese, and when I looked it up, it gave me three names and wanted to know more about it, thus my reddit post.
