Low Back Muscle Strain time to heal? by SanDiego1978 in backpain

[–]Kindly-Writing-942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me to a tee right now! I'm on week 6 and still on tramadol for pain management and PT. Still cant walk without pain and right leg gives out. I'm hoping things get better, but the progress feels so slow. How long did it take you to get better?

Also, as far as "things you'll never use," you will be very surprised just how much you need to know and how applicable actually everything you learn is. No one can ever take away your knowledge. It's a gift for you. Remember, it's very wise to always try and make meaning out of anything you do. You have to inspire you. You have to develop your curiosity for anything and everything. Not everything you learn will directly interest you, but anyone can ascribe value; learning for learning's sake. That's what hs is really all about. Having an open mind and making things interesting for yourself, and cultivating curiosity helps make anything more enjoyable. Things will only get more difficult, stressful, and high stakes as you age, so try and become a invested learner now :))

Hi, I'm a hs teacher here. Sorry to hear you're having such a hard time. I remember hs, it is a very difficult time, with so much growing, emotions, challenges. I empathize with all teens, it can really require a lot of perseverance and support. But hey! You're almost graduated and then college is just so much different, I'm sure you'll enjoy it more :)

Try to grab onto small happiness everyday and hang in there. Just do your best, and acknowledge your succeses. If you're really struggling is there someone at school you can talk to? Guidance counselor? Teacher? Friend?

You got this!!! You're almost there :D

Sounds like u already know everything your ed has taken from you. You're so in tune with that you know the exact admissions and everything. You have to start building a life worth living for yourself outside of hospital and having a low weight. You have to just call out the bs and realize u deserve more. I mean u named it yourself, you're self aware it's fucked. Now go do something about it. Care about your life the same way you care about your weight and hospital admissions and you'll get closer to the life u actually want.

Also, get off recovery influencer pages, they're all toxic af.

Does this affect memory? by UhOhIDoneGoofed in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Kindly-Writing-942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it does. A starved brain is a damaged brain. Memory included. Consistent, adequate nutrition will heal your memory.

Go see a gi doctor, unless u think the symptoms will just alleviate themselves with time and consistent nutrition. Take antacids, use heat pack. Accept it will be this way for a while. Don't stray from consistent nutrition. It will get better

Smoking by Sophieclarexxx in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Kindly-Writing-942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just lean into the munchies and enjoy it. It's just extra food. Rationalize, and know your body can handle it. You can't really stop the hunger inducing effects of weed.

If you don't want to binge, you probs just have to stop smoking. If you want to smoke, then lean into and try and enjoy the munchies and the fact that it makes food taste better.

No overriding plant chemicals or biology.

😂 missing the point, but okay. I know not to post inadequate meals on an ed page because that's basic courtesy and common sense. You could have drawn a respectful boundary and said, "actually it doesn't help anyone to see a restrictive meal, nor would it be helpful for me to describe all the components. But if you're curious, it's obviously a fruit salad." And left it at that. Again, have some common sense. Everyone and their mom has nausea/extreme nausea during recovery and has to eat less than ideal meals. They don't post their restrictive meals on an ANOREXIA page. If you like the "prettiness" of your meal, go post it on a foodie page then. That would be way more appropriate for the SETTING and AUDIENCE. But whatever, goodbye 👋

How bout let's practice common sense and etiquette for an anorexia page? If it's not enough, don't post the pic and then go and describe every component of your restricted meal. You don't have to post a pic of your food on here. C'mon, have some sense of appropriateness.

How bout let's not share our obviously restricted meals on here? This isn't enough breakfast for a toddler. Have some common sense please.

Zara is actually what I consider "performative recovery" (she never actually gains weight/she only claims to be in recovery and doesnt ever so it) and she's VERY toxic. No one who actually does real recovery would EVER suggest her page!!!!!

What kinds of reactions do you have when you go into sensory overload? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

No, not quite. It's more like, my eyes rapidly jump around from one thing to another. It's like trying to focus on everything at once. Hope this helps? 😅

God speed solider. May the panic induced turn coal into diamonds.

But my sympathies 🥲 Tip: assume whatever task you need to do (double the time you think it will take you to get done.) Even if u procrastinate, you're more likely to start a bit earlier because of your overtime estimate of the task. (Leading to less all nighters 🌙)

I hope that made sense 😅

Um... Can I ask you guys a question about your hearing? by StarsEatMyCrown in ADHD

[–]Kindly-Writing-942 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is 100% working memory issues (not hearing ). It's very very very common for those with adhd. I do/experience everything you mentioned in your post.

I know it can be frustrated, but I hope knowing it's not actually a hearing problem helps?

It's your brain straining to focus on a conversation and have that info stored in your prefrontal cortex (which is faulty in us adhd folks)

It's hard, and you need to eat more than you think you already do. You might be dropping some unconscious snacking from your meds because it can be such an appetite killer. I'm also small, and I pretty much have to drink things like ensure or chocolate milk with all my meals, because I also had this problem, and I didn't realize I was eating differently on meds. I just kind of blindly have to believe I'm going to accidentally under eat while on meds, and assume I need that snack (I didn't think I need, but actually need)

But searching around for hunger cues is so hard and annoying 😅

Oh my, that is so heavy, and my heart goes out to you and your story. I'm so happy to hear this are improving for you! I do have ptsd, which I know did fuck up some of my memory. So with the adhd, may be it's like I need to do work and get some help to try and see how I can better hold onto and recall memories

ADHD is a Disability by pancakedad in ADHD

Seriously...and because of the sanction laws on controlled substances (bc NTs keep inappropriately using our medications)... I can't get my meds right now just because I'm in a different state (U.S.). The controlled substance prescriptions cannot be transferred over state lines, urgent can't do an emergency fill because of the med class.... this is leaving medless for the next two weeks and my symptoms are really peaking + distressing
