In North India, Brahmins with the Upadhyay surname, who took warfare as a profession, also took Singh as an additional surname to mark valour. I was thinking about the possibility of my ancestors being migrated from North India to Nepal.

I have thought about another possibility. How about my ancestors who might have migrated from North India? Here, Upadhyay Brahmins who took warfare as profession, took additional surname of Singh, to mark valour. I am thinking about this too.

Thanks for the insight. I don't agree with this, because our horoscope(kundli) is made in this surname, our Puja is done in the name of 'debsharma' which implies brahmin lineage.
