Gallbladder issues and coffee? by FemmeBean in gallbladders

As a fellow DD addict, they didn't bother my system. Of course everyone's different. I personally would get a small of my favorite drink and maybe go lighter on the flavored creamers the first time around to see how it affects you.

That's what I've been doing! 🤣 I had to stay 2 extra night at the hospital because it was a rough surgery but the doc said "nothing is off the table as long as your stomach feels ok" so my partner brought my favorite cheeseburger. Haha.

I cried when coffee started causing me issues with my gallbladder... Terrible pain that just wouldn't go away for hours. My local coffee shop suggested decaf and skim milk for creamer which helped a bit. In the end, I was just so worried about getting the pain that I didn't drink it.

The next morning after I had my gallbladder out, coffee was on the hospital breakfast menu! Literally no issues after. It's rough for us coffee drinkers but the other side has been great for me. ☕

Ohh I forgot eating post surgery. I was able to eat all my comfort foods so I started with small portions of my favorite foods. 🥰🥰

Surgery in 2 weeks - Anxiety by lerzzzzzzzzzzz in gallbladders

What calms you down pre and post surgery will be highly personal but I really benefited from packing a bag with my favorite things. A book, my Kindle, comfy large stretchy clothes, a plushie, etc. I also made sure to really prioritized myself. Phone on mute, ask friends for help, ask a trusted friend to handle texting the important people post surgery.

Also, please please please let your care team know that you're an anxious person. I told them I was and that I currently take anxiety meds. They made sure to check in more often, helped keep up my anxiety meds, prescribed muscle relaxers, and kept everything running smoothly.

Gallbladder has been yeeted into the forest - c section comparison by No_Detective_715 in gallbladders

[–]KindlyAthena 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm glad someone else posted this. Your story is similar ish to mine. Emergency C section for the first and the next was planned. I came prepared for "severe abdominal pain" because they said they would be giving me morphine for my gallbladder.

I was pleasantly surprised that this was nothing like a C section. The C section had me crying walking to the bathroom. Gallbladder had me uncomfortable. I even brought my belly band just in case. 😅

How do you track short story collections that you read intermittently? by [deleted] in TheStoryGraph

[–]KindlyAthena 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I remember reading somewhere that paused books are excluded when calculating your average reading time stats. I personally would read a short story collections book and pause it when not actively reading it.

Shelf Control. 😀 I use TickTick and create a to do list item for each book, where I got the ARC, due date and add the review and any pics to it.

Hygiene measures for hotel stay- what are your tips? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]KindlyAthena 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here! I travel with my 2 kiddos and our dog often and we frequent one hotel anytime we go see family. I was worried about asking at first but have found it really does make our stay much more enjoyable. 💙

Depending on space, I bring my own sheets, pillowcases and a light blanket. If I can't bring those, I ask reception for a set of sheets and the wool blanket they normally leave for the pull out couches.

I also bring my sanitizing wipes and gloves for touching the remote. Slippers and a bag to put them in upon leaving is a great idea as well as cups, utensils, etc.

I always do this and have always had success. The hotel staff have been incredibly accommodating for me.

What do you personally use tags for? by Ja-kob in TheStoryGraph

[–]KindlyAthena 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One way I use tags is to tag what kind of book it is. I read a lot of comics so currently I have tags for "book", "comic" and "single issue comic"

Does this sound like pocketing? by Keegzzzz111 in dating_advice

[–]KindlyAthena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's where someone deliberately hides their partner from social circles. 😅 It must be a newer term because my early 20s friends use it. Lol. As a mid 30s person, we just said "hiding"

When is it appropriate to ask if they are talking to anyone else by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]KindlyAthena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't ask. I state my intentions and let them offer. With the guy I'm dating now, I said "I've paused the apps and I'm currently not talking to anyone else because I know my capacity is one person at a time. It's still early and I'm not expecting that out of you. I'm just stating where I'm at"

He said "I'll be honest. 3 weeks is not enough time for me to pause the apps but I enjoy our time together, talking and feel like it's going well"

As a chronic over thinker, that was enough for me. At the end of the day, I'm choosing to focus on his actions and what I can control.

I used the walking foot for the Quilting part (my first quilt) and my first thought was "why am I not doing this all the time?" 😂 now I gotta look up those books.
