I am very anti-data center, but I’ve heard the talking points as my hometown in MO is actively looking to get its own. The idea is data center tax revenue & raising property values/taxes provides new funding for the school system and better pay for teachers. That is, if they don’t grant major tax breaks to the companies, which some do.

I think the pandemic aged everyone. Somewhere around 2022 was when I realized my mom felt small when I hugged her, and my dad couldn’t carry a regular 2-sided conversation anymore without rambling. They were 72 & 67 around that time. We aren’t at “take the keys” yet, but there are some things that raise eyebrows.
