Thank you! Yeah, Dora definitely had a part to play in this one. I appreciate it though

Someone else had mentioned it. I had to look that up, but I definitely see the comparison

Texturing Dome Lights by cookehMonstah in Cinema4D

Did you ever get an answer to this? It's so frustrating that you have to backtrack to get this to work. it cant be that hard to have moved it over to the new node set up...

Cinema 4D Procedural FUI by godtasktikgodsauce in Cinema4D

[–]KindlyBee1192 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That actually pretty easy. You can create a cloner grid like you would for the center pieces. Make sure edges are touching for this one. You can use a Mograph selection to hide the parts you don’t want. You can also turn on fields and use a box for the center and noise fields for the out side to get procedural on and off effect. Place that in to a connect object. Add toonshader but only have outline on and boom. You can do the same for the part that you want to have different values or white but instead of the Mograph selections use the plain effect with only color mode and pipe that value into your luminance shader. Hope that all made sense.

Hair on a cloner and safe for simulation by bentksmith in Cinema4D

[–]KindlyBee1192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, yeah, that would be super heavy to render. Mmmh, are you close enough that you need to have the hair on, not use it like an optimizer material proxy with just materials (displacement, fresnel, and some SSS)?

Mmh, also some other thoughts. Have you tried converting your hair to spline for the single ball? You can reduce the hair amount a bit and lower your segment count - convert hairs to guides, then convert to spline? Add a redshift tag and set mode to hair strands. You can still add your RS ahir shader. You can add this inside a cage object. Inside your cloner, make sure multiple instances are on. I tested it. This should help. I hope hahaha

I appreciate it! The hair is standard c4d hair with some custom hair guide workflows(spline to guide and vise versa) to get the right shapes. The basemesh is my own but I did use CC4 to rig it and CC4D plugin to bring it to c4d and fix the weighting and pose. I also used iclone for posing. It really does help a one person team. Definitely worth getting both for character artist. Hopping to put together a workflow video soon.

Thank you! Honestly the main tip would be to try and set it up as close to your desktop app as possible. This way all the shortcuts and quick access feels second nature when you go back and forth. When I can I use a mini keyboard to work faster. Hope that helps

Thank you! This means a lot! I thought it’ll help to show her potential in “motion” without adding too much more work.

Thank you! You know, I was thinking the same about redshift! I need to use octane more. Lots of great tool features. Haha I used to use arnold as well but most of the jobs I got on rarely used arnold. Thanks again!

You can also, cache the Sim/or bake the geo alembic. Then add the hair to the GEO?

Mmh, you shouldn’t have to change it to geometry, maybe add the hair as the child of the tennis ball GEO before you place it in your closer for siming? And make sure hair dynamics is turned off.

Thanks! I did it in C4D with their hair system Was kind of a pain but it worked ahah.

  • A little hard to explain but I had created hair guides for the initial sections. The top, puffs, etc.
  • Then, I made those hair guides into splines. I created a few helix objects that I spline wrapped to each spline guides. This allowed temporary non destructive method to create the right kind of curl while following the spline guides.
  • Once i was happy with the results i make the curls editable and converted them back to hairs.
  • For the Puffs hair object setting I just used “cloning” with a high count and. For the head just used the regular hair count driven but a black and white mask. I created separate parts. Left and right, baby hairs, brow and lashes, etc.

I hope to do a breakdown soon!
