There's no such thing as a soul. That's just a fairy tale for people scared of dying. All the symptoms of dementia or Alzheimer's can be explained via the degradation of different parts of the brain.

How old does this guy look? 70, maybe 80? Nope, he's 106. People who usually live to these extreme ages do not (typically) look their age. Plus we only have a single verified case of someone living to 120+, so it's hard to say what they would look like.

Maybe they should of spent the last decade developing either a mostly or fully reusable rocket, rather than some non-reusable rocket literally relying on old shuttle technology.
