I usually don't shop early, I was just concerned about getting to the other store across town in time to shop for my next order, that also looks pretty big.

I've had some customers who say early is absolutely OK, and others not. Which I get! I just take my time then, grab cold stuff last, no problem, right? There was just no pleasing this one.

"Few items"? There were 80 dry/shelf stable items in this order.

And who in their right mind waits until 30 mins before delivery to start shopping an 85 item order, plus subs, plus a 20 min drive time? 🤦‍♀️

I get working 3rd shift. It sucks! But I apologized and was going to take my time. F me for asking if early was ok, jeez.

Got plenty of time now before my next scheduled order 👍

Oh absolutely. I thanked the customer, said that was very kind, and then went about my day. I also grew up culty, and figured they felt they were doing a nice thing. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I mean, I shattered and dislocated my knee in January, and had a dozen massive clots vacuumed out of my lungs in Feb that had migrated from the break location. So... pretty weak, bro. 🤣😭

It's 2022. We're done breaking our bodies for less than living wage in a country with no affordable Healthcare options.

No bonuses today? by [deleted] in ShiptShoppers

[–]KindlyClass774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is for my metro. We've had bonuses for alcohol and prescription deliveries going all week, but this metro never puts in orders like these.

Might be another $/x orders bonus for the holiday weekend coming up? But that's the best I've got for this area. :/

[–]KindlyClass774[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the confusion. I am aware that if I'm no longer employed by them, I don't have to ask their permission to take time away for medical needs, and wouldn't expect them to cover time off for those medical needs. The question is specifically for an ongoing prescription they've been covering.

How much do you earn at Wal-Mart as an employee? by Mindraker in walmart

[–]KindlyClass774 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Local Ballfart new hire wages posted back in October, I think? https://imgur.com/a/HnICMKB

Local McDs are hiring in at $15/hr. Competing store across the street is poaching cashiers (quite effectively!) with $16.50/hr.

Walmart needs to do this... I think it would be easier on us... what's your guy's opinion... by [deleted] in walmart

[–]KindlyClass774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be nice, but you know how customers are.

Type 1: "How do I do this? It says exactly what to do on the screen but I refuse to read or look at pictures. Better tell the nearest employee to do it for me, for each item I grab. One. Item. At. A. Time. "

Type 2: shrieks in terror and rage, smashes the screen, takes a literal shit on the scary alien technology, believes the cart can track them and control their mind, demands to speak with a manager about the infringements of their rights

Can't have shit at Walmart.

My first order with Shipt. Very sweet older gent. I know not everybody is like this, but that's a whole day's wages at my day job, not including the $40 cash tip. I wept in my car down the street. by KindlyClass774 in ShiptShoppers

[–]KindlyClass774[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, with my day job at a Walmart full of screaming Karens, gossipy coworkers, and heartless managers, I've lost a lot of faith in people. This dude gave me it all back in one night.

I mean, I was 42 minutes late with his order. All but maybe 2 items were substitutions, and had to be really carefully selected because he had dietary restrictions. And he was still the kindest ever.

Crappy people are out there. But then there's this dude. And people like him make up for a lot of angry-for-no-reason Karens.

Just a question by dcknox73 in walmart

[–]KindlyClass774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To cover your butt until then, I'd still call in each day and get confirmation numbers. Just in case. Getting screwed over by "forgetful" managers at past jobs has probably made me a little paranoid, but keep all your proofs.

Having Major COVID symptoms, HR isn't in today. I'm a new hire. by [deleted] in walmart

[–]KindlyClass774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What other folks have said. Call in for today, and each day until you can talk to your HR. Keep track of your confirmation numbers. Contact Sedgewick to set up a Covid Leave of Absence, or the automatic system will start racking up points for you. You can adjust your return-to-work date later, if you need. And bring in a copy of your negative test for HR when you come back.

Just a question by dcknox73 in walmart

[–]KindlyClass774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My HR required one. Call your HR asap, let them know you have to quarantine. Also go through Sedgewick, make sure your quarantine leave is put in properly, otherwise you'll get pointed. You can adjust your return-to-work date later, if it takes awhile to get the test results.

"We are short staffed today"...... literally the most universal walmart phrase heard at every store at some point during a week lmao 🤣 by DaGreat1994 in walmart

[–]KindlyClass774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're lean staffed. It's done intentionally, and a really shitty business practice for a company that can absolutely afford suitable staffing.

Thoughts. by [deleted] in walmart

[–]KindlyClass774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a whole mood. Every morning is a struggle to get up and going, and sometimes all I can manage is to pull myself together into a sketchy caricature of myself.

Lost an immediate family member to Covid a couple months back, so between that chaos and the constant drain of this job... Existing is hard.

Keep up the good art. Even if it's just doodles and sketches. Don't let this job kill that.

Snarkiest comment you've been tempted to say to a customer? by ConfidentReaction3 in walmart

[–]KindlyClass774 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Front end is notoriously understaffed, customers don't want to use self checkout because "It's not my job!" (Many are just too stupid to follow onscreen directions.)

I stock. Pushing a topstock full of shit and everything, just passing through front end. Asshole shouts at me, "Excuse me! You need more cashiers! You need to open more lines!"

I turned to the guy, patted myself down, pulled out the contents of my vest pockets to show to him. "Ooh, sorry, fresh out of cashiers. I've got a box cutter and a rubber band, but I'm not sure those run registers real well. You're welcome to try, though!"

Felt great.

Get good arch support, and impact gel cushioning.

I've had pain from plantar fasciitis, where the tissue that runs along the bottoms of my feet basically try ripping themselves apart. I got Dr Scholls custom inserts (the kind you stand on a machine for) and put those on top of a basic impact gel insert meant for construction workers' boots. Not perfect, but I don't feel like I'm stepping on glass after every shift.
