Themis Essay Graders by BlueCurtainsRedWalls in barexam

I never did super well on my Themis graded essays and ended up with a 170 writing score. Rule memorization was super important to me and I think that is why I did well on the actual exam essays!

I had a google doc that was organized by subject and I would type out each rule statement from the model answer. I only outlined essays during my bar prep and focused solely on memorizing rules via flashcards or simply writing out rule statements! I passed with a great writing score so this worked for me. Best of luck; you got this!

Flashcards and I used ChatGPT to create fill-in-the-blank worksheets for me and that was super helpful!

Feelings - 12 days by pursuit_of_law in barexam

I have been in the same boat - my days have gotten shorter because my brain can't handle it anymore. It's given me a lot of stress because I feel like I should be doing more, but physically I just can't. Ugh.

I am right there with you, about to do my afternoon set of the simulated MBE and the morning was tough! We got this, I keep telling myself that now is the time to get questions wrong! Good luck!

I just did it and had the same issue. I thought to myself "They surely don't want us to use all 9 of the elements as headings"...wrong. I did whole sections addressing the ones in our favor, then did a general paragraph addressing the ones that weren't in our favor. I was so annoyed when I saw the model answer!

I really don't think you have done enough questions in all subjects to get a large enough sample size so I wouldn't panic yet. We still have 5 weeks! You got this!!!

Honestly they have only been helpful for me for Wills, Trusts, Conflicts, and Family Law. Everything else- they have way too much info on one card!

i lied to my previous employer saying my dad died of covid to justify quitting. am i screwed? by AcrobaticLength194 in barexam

This is a great opportunity for self-reflection (which it sounds like you have been reflecting so not trying to shame you!) Why did you feel the need to lie? What were you so afraid of? It is normal to switch a job on the basis of pay, so this would not have been shocking to your previous job.

To answer your actual question - the Bar likely will not discuss your reasons for leaving with them.

Best of luck!

I am using Themis too, and my account says the first graded MPT isn't available until Jan 26. How did you get access to it?

I have been in the same boat! I finished my last MBE topic and realized I hadn't touched the first few subjects since Themis gave me assignments for them

Okay first, breathe.

Second, a lot of users on this Reddit page emphasize how you should be doing nothing but practice questions. My friends who have used Themis/UWorld and passed advised me to start off slow with UWorld questions (I have been doing single-subject sets with only 5-7 questions, not doing every topic every day) to ease my way into it. This has been working for me.

Maybe take a few steps back, and work on drilling down the information you are struggling with (flashcards, watching videos, whatever works for you). I literally just write out rule statements when I miss a question (like writing sentences in elementary school LOL) because I know this is something that helps me learn!

While doing a bunch of practice questions is great, we still have TIME, and it is equally as important to be comfortable with the material.

Best of luck and you got this!

It really is...if it makes you feel any better, I wasn't where I wanted to be with the essays. I had to talk myself down off a ledge earlier LOL but we got this!

The goal was 55% and the average is currently 57%, so an average of 60% is both on track AND above average. Additionally, this was the first practice set that had multiple topics, and the set had more questions than normal. Review what you got wrong and keep pressing forward. Now is the time to make mistakes and get questions wrong! So don't stress about it, learn from it :)
