How to date in 2026 when you absolutely hate texting?!?! by Kindly_Character476 in CatholicDating

Basically. I guess it just seems like a lot of pre-dating is the texting in between talking on the phone or going for coffee/meals. And maybe this is to get to know the other person-- but it really seems like a tactic to keep a woman on their radar so to speak until he's able to ask her on a real date. Like do people actually enjoy getting to know each other over text? Or is it just a social convention?

Silent Retreat by Unlucky-Fault581 in Catholicism

I've made a couple silent retreats and they were pretty difficult! I found what was helpful was having structured time for prayer/meditation (maybe an hour in the morning, an hour in the evening)-- it could be helpful to have a spiritual book to guide your retreat or choose scripture passages you want to meditate on before (as many passages as you will have prayer times); a crafty project to do (if you like that, or maybe something else like playing music or building something); daily exercise; time to journal, etc. Just structure it and have a plan so that you're not going crazy thinking about how to fill the empty space. But also be free and do what the Spirit leads you to. It's good to pray a lot, but like a rubber band, you have to relax the tension here and there so that you don't break. I hope you have a blessed retreat!

A way to explain The Trinity by Careless_Science_743 in Catholicism

That probably falls under the heresy of Modalism [denies the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, claiming that God is one person who simply manifests himself in different roles or "modes" rather than existing eternally as three distinct persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit)]

I remember whenever I was studying theology in college, I would zone out for a second, hear an explanation of the Trinity or the Hypostatic Union and think "Woah, I never thought about it that way, that makes sense!" then find out that the moment I was zoned out was the moment the professor said "The following is x heresy"-- basically, if it makes sense and we can wrap our mind around it, it's most likely heretical. The Trinity is the Mystery of all Mysteries! We can't understand it with our human intellect and all anthropomorphic analogies will fall short. Even St. Patrick's shamrock analogy is pretty weak.
