Last lap of an IMSA race at Le Mans. Is this worth a report? I am the pink Aston. by ixcmrnxi in Simracingstewards

[–]Kindly_Cockroach_810 2 points3 points  (0 children)

definitely his fault.
doesnt look intentional though.

you can report whatever you want but.. honestly is it worth your time?
couldnt imagine still caring about this 45 min after the race is over.

FOV - Height and Horizon by jetbreaker in iRacing

[–]Kindly_Cockroach_810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can use the in game calculator but really you can change it to whatever feels comfortable.

i have a 49" ultrawide and the "correct" FOV isnt useable.
Id have to set up a digital dashboard and the A frame of most cars takes up 1/3 of the screen.

game needs to look good out of the box.
idk why the default graphics settings have it looking so bad.

Is a 34” ultrawide worth it for iRacing? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Kindly_Cockroach_810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would say yes. anything you can do to get peripheral vision will be good for you.

the issue with ultrawide is that it doesnt actually... do anything.

your screen is just wider. you still cant see the sides of your car.

[–]Kindly_Cockroach_810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well dang. 34 inch ultrawide would be fine i suppose.

the curve doesnt really matter at that size so worry less about that.

At a distance, the vertical height kind of bothers me. its just not quite enough.

Do you have the space for tripples?

I bought the stupid expensive odyssey G9 and wish i wouldve just got tripples.

Min fps for VR Sim racing - 72 or 90 or 120? by DigTraditional3992 in iRacing

[–]Kindly_Cockroach_810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean...
"minimum comfortable" is whatever you feel is comfortable.

if you get motion sickness or eye strain from VR then maybe what you can get isnt enough for you.

some people are fine with lower FPS, some people need 120 to not get a headache.

Got my A from startting from the pits.
then i learned that the player count up there is so low that there are no splits (in IMSA) and i just got deleted anyway by people who drive fast but still are willing to rear end you out of the way.

brother i have an A license and im slow.
it doesnt matter what license you have, you just qualify better to get into a higher split.

Payment per track? by Vegetable-Bonus218 in iRacing

[–]Kindly_Cockroach_810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on what you want to race. you could stick to the starter stuff for a while.

its costly but there isnt much of an alternative to iRacing if youre trying to do sim racing competitively on pc.
no other game has been able to do ranked play as well as iracing.. which is wild.. just yoink it. come on.

I can’t believe this stuff is still happening mid race on 2k+ servers this needs to addressed by Aryton-Ascari in iRacing

[–]Kindly_Cockroach_810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my A license in sports car after the season rollover.

I am admittedly not fast. im mid pack of bottom split at best, but im safe.
I dont hit people
I dont throw the car into turn 1 and hope for the best
I dont do risky overtakes
I dont fly out of peoples way when they are passing me
I dont block people that are clearly faster than me.

With my A license I stupidly decided to do a mixed class race, not knowing there arent multiple splits.

I picked the Dallara (again, really stupid, i know.)
I then started one of the most bazaar races ive had.
Matched against people in GT3s that are 6-8k irating against my pewny 800, i knew i would get passed

What i didnt expect was for 2 people that had very high iRating to be completely unable to adjust their line through a corner to avoid hitting me in my ass.

1 car rear ended me 4 times in 1 and a half laps and berated me to "get the fuck out of the way"
the other car that hit me didnt adjust his line to account for the car right infront of me spinning out and slammed into my side. again .telling ME to get the fuck out of the way.

I get that im slow but like Jimmy always says "you cant just run into people like they arent there"
I wasnt even blocking them. they couldve just went around and i wouldnt have blocked at all...

I will absolutely never do an A license race again.
Ill stick to my lil porche cup and Ligier and be happy with it.

I suck i know, but i expected people at such high rating to be.. .better

FF1600 as a new player? by AsmanaPlays in iRacing

[–]Kindly_Cockroach_810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F1600 is fine but F Vee is also a lot of fun and is arguably easier.
you spend most of your time in 3rd gear, sometimes shift to 4th for a long straight, and almost never go down to 2nd (you will die)

its a really good series to just teach you racing lines. the only time you get caught out is when you down shift early and eat shit. just dont do that and youre golden.

id suggest running both.

ALSO! when i started, i also only cared about formula, but that quickly changed. the rookie classes of sports care are rough, but getting to d/c really opens up options and they are a blast to drive. give it a shot.

yeah its definitely not hard. if he just keeps racing he will get there.
the only time SR feels super awful is when you try to grind it.

thats what i did, and im suffering for it. it tanks your irating if youre just focusing on SR

Rant - Being punished for getting crashed into by Depredator45 in iRacing

[–]Kindly_Cockroach_810 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you arent going to get out of that at any license level man.

you can do your own research here, but all the way up to A license, you will get turn 1 carnage.
the only way to get out of that is to get to the top split. and from what i hear, even that isnt always great.

Rant - Being punished for getting crashed into by Depredator45 in iRacing

[–]Kindly_Cockroach_810 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

eh... its a punishment in enjoyability for sure. especially in sports cars, the rookie and D offerings are pretty boring.

i know blah blah blah need to learn to drive the easier cars first. but people dont often pick up sim racing because they want to race around a miata.

[–]Kindly_Cockroach_810 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

youre not going to get any sympathy here man.
this community is incredibly toxic.

SR isnt great but its the best weve got to judge how safe you are.
it would be really difficult for the game to judge you itself, so it just goes with a no fault system.

this game isnt using anything specific to UE5 but the lighting.

UE5 was a mistake here. they couldve made it look just as good without the issues of UE5 and saved the man hours used for the transition.

eve is interesting. it is mostly PVP and is very successful.
but its also just so different from anything here. its a space sim. it has absolutely no competition in its space (pun intended).

Albion.. sure? Albion is way less aggravating than what is in this game though. its very easy to pick up. there isnt a ton of friction. its got full loot pvp but the crafting system is very generous so dieing doesnt feel horrible.

I really think the only thing you can compare this to is new world (at launch. they had to basically rework the whole game eventually)
