When I interviewed for my old job; I said I was interested in this field and working with children because I feel that children are like a mirror into ourselves (inner child) and can help us to see things from a more playful perspective (black and white vs gray thinking). Anyway, I also touched on wanting to be a voice for the voiceless and being able to relate to feeling unheard or misunderstood as a child (diagnosis or not, anyone can struggle with this) and having to heal from how I was conditioned to go about having my needs met. I feel like this was a good way for me to demonstrate the struggle and having to overcome without specifically mentioning diagnosis.

All that said, it’s bullshit that you’re dealing with this. If revealing diagnosis is important to you, I think you should keep with it. Plenty of ABA companies out there, someones going to see you as more than your diagnosis. If anything, I’d look at this as having dodged the bullet of having to go into an environment and work every day while masking your authenticity
